I should clarify my post I guess. Initial cost of those bibs is high. But in the end they are cheap. keep blood off your clothes underneath, save the knees in blue jeans, last for years of hard use.

I'm glad I asked because it sounds like the majority of yall think the way I do. I have a lot of insulated underwear and I usually just adjust the number of layers of that to the temp and then just wear old everyday clothes. I have a massive pair of very insulated bibs I bought when I was a lot bigger. I break them out every now and then when it gets too cold. Its always a challenge finding a balance between too hot and too cold because I use a fourwheeler for all my trapping. Easy to get cold when you're driving 40 across the open field but easy to get hot when you're pounding in sets. I thought about getting a pair of not so insulated bibs but bibs always seem restrictive to me. Seems like I can't move in bibs as well as I'd like. I have a coat that I bought probably 15 years ago that is super thick and way too big for me but nothing gets through it. I just throw it on when I get on the fourwheeler then take it off at the set. I bought it at an online discount hunting clothes place but I can't remember the name of it. They had like a member price and a regular price for everything.

I'm wearing hunting/trapping clothes (Cabela's) I bought about fifteen years ago. Between hunting and trapping season, I'll bet I wear them more than a hundred days a year. They weren't cheap but they last and they also perform better in the field than bargain basement type stuff.

I understand your reluctance to spend money on yourself, that's admirable, but in the long run you might be better off paying up front. I haven't bought new hunting/trapping clothes in more than a decade...excluding boots.

Thrift stores are a treasure trove for good inexpensive work clothes I'll be the first to knock good will they don't help people as much as one would think or expect.
I wear insulated zip to my hip pants quite often when I take my snowmobile out on the snare line.

I'm also a fan of my Filson shelter cloth coat but it darn sure isn't cheap to buy .
