I never got to set. Had this 29 pound Tom in a coyote set this morning. He is the 11th one I have caught in coyote sets this year. None had anything flashy about them as I find it scares the coyote off. Obviously they hunt pretty good with their noses too.

Wish I had more time to trap....

Nice cat Strike! Thats exactly what happened to me last season- opening day catch made in an existing coyote set.
I usually release about a half-dozen cats before the season opens, the only good thing about that is I can observe
where the best colored cats are, around me.

Looks like the lake-effect snow bands missed you, here are a couple pics from my run this morning, around Grayling.
I made 6 cat sets today, they were buried in snow before I left.

Yeah south east of Grayling got snow also. Stopped at the about the south branch. Rosco seen very little. Good job on the cat. That coyote looks good and healthy too.

If I was a gambling man I probably would have let him go but with only a ten day season and a one limit I wasn't going to chance it. I caught a few that were a lot better looking but he looked pretty good today. I will probably catch a better one tomorrow and have to let it go.

Wish I had more time to trap....

I have never had the opportunity to trap bobcats. I think that Ohio will likely have a partial trapping season soon.

The bobcat you caught seems slightly lighter than the bobcats I have seen. It reminds me a little of a cinnamon coon. Are Michigan's bobcat usually that light reddish color?

Keith

Ain't that how it works? Many cats around, they could raise the take to two, I think. But hey were just trappers.

The cat I got today was pretty dirty from the rain last 2 days. The other pictures I put up are from drier days.

Way to go Greg! You did the right thing....you know how aggravating they can be..........season is way too short. I have a real runt in the neighborhood, about the size of a housecat. I may not set at all. I DON'T want to pinch that one.

Let's see more cat pictures, not limited to Michigan. Everyone please show em off. To some of you bobcat may not be a big deal but when you have to scout it out and then have 10 days to get the job done it becomes an obsession.

I love setting for cats, I think they're the most fascinating furbearer in my part of the world. I had been getting a lot of cats pics/videos all summer and fall but things have really dried up since winter set in. Heavy snow after heavy snow seems to have everything holed up. [Linked Image]

Great job on that cat, Strike! Wish I could trap one down here where I'm at. We have very few, but they are around and no season for them.

When life gets me down..... you know hunting/trapping season is closed.
