You are a pro at that otter snaring. No bag limit down there? Our snares must be at least 1/2 under water up here. Congrats on your success. Looks like good sized ones, too.

Nope no bag limit on them. The snare has to have deer stop . If snare is more than 20ft from water. Cant set around fence so animal can get wrapped up. 1 piece snare lock. Not too bad.

My favorite animal to trap is a cat! But now a otter isnt far behind on the list.

You need a smaller loop size, just an inch or 2 and you will quit body snaring. Attach the snare to the top of those stakes and it will act as kill pole, although I likem a bit taller. Best to drown them even if your snares are midline swiveled.

I have justed snared a few. Still learning on them. My poles r 4 1/2 to 5ft tall. I hammer them in the ground alot. Dont want the animals to get away. Ha

Have you tried running a drowner cable to the water? You can buy premade drowners if you don't feel like making them.

Hi AJE I have one set out with drowner. That's the first type set I put out. I used a #4 dls rr plate. The beaver pulled the 1 plate to the bank got out. So I reset it put 2 rr plates on. I am waiting after new year to order me a few beaver traps [ no bs beaver traps or bridger #5].Monday going by get 3 sticks 1/2 rebar for drowning rods. I like making drowning sets. But only traps I have to use as a beaver trap is #4 dls and #3 & #4 jump traps. More I learn about snaring more I like it. So fast to set and go. I carry a snare bag with 30 or so beaver and predator snares. Along with snare supports.

Yes they will. I like the snares for beaver. Fast putting out. Carry alot of them. These beaver r . They wouldn't come around a 330 set.

I had a beaver that for a week avoided my 330. I put some Woodchipper on a stick between the bank & the 330 & had it the next day. A 57 Lb beaver.

I had otter sign show back up. Not using crossover yet. The otter or otters r hanging about dock. Using the bathroom right in front of dock on dam. I still have everything set up. I put in a dirt hole set with mb 550 otter lure and fish down hole. Set bucket sets right on edge of water with 220s belisle otter lure and fish. Any other sets I could use? Dont lure I have on hand is caven otter supreme and cronks otter lure. Fixing to order fox hollow torpedo and Dunlap otter lure locklear otter lure and lenon otter super all call . Is there any otter I need to get?
