The weather has been all over the place up here lately. I have had otter sets and mink sets washed away by flooding and frozen in So I am moving to some cubbies, boxes and bank holes.

The lure I put together yesterday involves Petroleum Jelly, Salmon Oil, Shellfish Oil, Beaver Castor and Anise oil. It is a pretty strong smell and I hope it broadcasts in the upcoming cold. For bait i will be using halibut and salmon scraps I have had frozen since fishing season. Does this sound like a winner?

Any thoughts on what I am missing? Feedback on lures? Other effective sets for mink or Otter?

Thanks.

you'll get some feedback here, but I'd sure ask the experts at www.minktrapping.com too!

Weasel gland for lure if you have it. Mink hate weasels.

I fenced down a crossover for otter and got this mink this morning. I'm sure the circle trigger helped. With the snow you get and the freezing I would think cross overs or open water would be the best places to set up. Not sure you would even need bait or lure.

Thanks for the input. It has been in the 40s here with no snow or ice to speak of. I know its coming but I want to get the ball rolling while the water is still open.

I will do a bit more blind setting this evening. Thanks everyone! I will try to find some weasel around for bait.
