My title is in reference to trapping supplies. Online sales and marketing has bombarded the market for traps for sure and trapping supplies in general. I am just curious who still has a local place they can go pick up some bait or grab a new lure if your line is cold. Used to be small shops around that carried some limited gear but around here there is zero except i guess a couple #1 longs at bomgaars.

I would find myself making a lot of random smaller purhcases rather than getting one or two yearly orders rounded up to save on shipping fees.

A lot of the time i would just prefer to give a local store $18 for some call lure instead of $14 plus two dollars shipping or whatever.

gas costs would outweigh the shipping most years lately.i'm bound to get to conventions this year like i used to and avoid the whole mess.

I can buy Duke stuff and Hawbaker's lures at the local Fleet Farm, but I'd rather give my money to a trapping business.

No actual trapping business around here.

This is the only place I know of around here. It is an Amish fella, so not open on Sunday's.

We have a local shop around here now that Dutch isn’t open anymore since he passed. But if I don’t feel like driving 20 miles to get there I buy online from Trapping Time here in Pa. Quick shipping too

Farm supply store 30 minutes east of me stocks a variety of traps and supplies. I work over there a couple of times a month and buy from them frequently. Also order online too.

I've just started trapping. This is my second season. We have Volkers Trapping in Pearl City, Illinois. My buddy took me there. I've talked to the owners and bought stuff. I'm impressed with them. I'm lucky to have a place to go. It's about 45 minutes or so from my house. Super people and fun to visit.

Other than the few things I would buy when I used to take my furs to John Epler (Epler Fur company) or Dave Rodgers (Rodgers Hides and Supplies) I don't think I've ever bought trapping supplies locally. I order online from places like F & T and Northwestern or buy at conventions. The bulk of my newer traps came from Ebay. My older traps were mail-ordered.

Eh...wot?

Used to be a little trapping store within reasonable driving distance, they closed a couple years ago. Order from f&t and mtp now.

You can get supplies here locally, it's a toss up on whether you save anything over buying online as the markups eat the savings.

I just remember when i was a young kid going to a store with my brother and him talking trapping and getting supplies. It is a connection that is still certainly there on the hunting side for sure. Folks still shop local and talk local fishing and hunting. These hobbies are certainly more widespread but they aren't really different.

I do love how we have good trapping options for supplies in general though. When i get snares from Dakota line I know They know snares and I watch stecks videos when i can to learn some. Same with Minnesota brand or Schmitts or Kaatz bros. Also I know i am supporting those families in general. That is a great thing. One less thing i have to buy from amazon the better i guess i think.

The closest to me is about 75 miles or an hour and a half away. Shipping and handling is low cost for me if I need and want stuff. We have a good rondy in WI and if I do my home work I can get all I need in one trip.

I work in St Joe Missouri and there’s an outdoor shop that sells hunting fishing and trapping supplies, I don’t typically buy anything from them there higher priced. There’s another bait shot the other end of town that sells bait and lure but I’ve yet to make it up there yet

Very limited. A small selection of Duke traps and that's pretty much it. Lowe's actually has a better selection I just have to gather the different pieces and put them together.
