The better half gave me permission to start on my shooting range if I promise to not loose the honey do list .  So now I have put a nasty looking mulching blade type thing on the big weed whacker and asked with it and a range finder in my shirt pocket I am going to start cutting a semi straight line into the property and out of the larger trees that will be in the way I shallowing build the back stops and a shooting bench. Looking at the terrain and my speedy work I should have a 25 yard pistol range by the end of the year and then keep whittling my way through it for another 300 or so yards.

Happy new year to you all

Michael

I built my shooting bench on my back porch so it had a roof over it so i can shoot in the rain and dont have to get out of pajamas to get to the shooting bench. Worked out great when working up loads just shoot a couple rounds and walk back to the reloading room and make a few more. I had a guy with a bucket on the front of a tractor build up a horseshoe shaped dirt berm 100yds out.

I also built in a large brass catcher on my bench. I used some old sheer curtains i had and built something like a "sail" on the right side and left some extra material on the bottom to make a pouch. It captures all brass from any gun i shoot and dont have to chase em all down when im done.

one back stop shooting benches at different yardages ?
maybe even a portable shooting bench on wheels that can get hitched to the truck tractor or atv/utv.

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

I have a dock box that I don't use, so thought I would put that next to the bench so I can leave the rest, targets tripod for the chronograph and stuff like that in it. That way I can just take the rifle / pistol and some ammo and have at it. I can't set up right at the boat as it would freak out the cats.

You can never have to many shooting ranges. 300 yds would be great!

I could go to 540 but for now 300 will do ...... going to borrow the brush hog from the neighbor and hang that behind my tractor once I got the big stuff out of the way and the stumps cut short enough to dot catch those blades.
