Nice work, the fish will be the real test. LOL Fishing hooks always catch the fisherman first!

They remind me of the old "Doll Flys" there use to be about 40 years or so ago. They worked great on walleyes and bass.
Nice job!
Heard on the news that the mayor of Chicago is calling for a cease fire in Gaza. Maybe should call for a cease fire in Chicago.

Nice looking jigs. That is nice long rabbit hair. At first I thought it was Arctic fox.
I've never ice fished in my life but in the 70's in Montana I learned how deadly black marabou jigs could be on wild trout.
Go get 'em.
Pete I love marabou jigs for trout. Commercially tied ones I like but don't love that's where part of this pattern came from. But it looks so much better in the water than marabou. These have a marabou tail and it tends to give them a nice looking tail to tie it all together

The are like a Playboy centerfold, in nice to look at, but not much use in real life. The simple and ugly white and yellow feather jigs work here, sometimes a dark purple or black. For ice fishing, we use the tear drops, Swedes and I always like the Russian hooks, and the feather jigs were more for summer casting, working rock shores for walleyes.
As for trout, we use salmon eggs or sweet corn on a hook. Never really made a bother of making it work to catch them.,

Maybe... the only problem we had was the poor quality of the jig hooks at the time. On the Madison and the Henry's for you could hook up with a 4 or 5 pound trout anytime on a jig but those gold hooks would bend out right away.
It all started with some Missouri boys who were guides for a shop in St. Anthony. The jigs were deadly on big trout. My boss forbid us to use them on guide trips, but you know how that goes.
You have good tying technique.
Pete
Hook strength is one of the biggest issues I'll face I've got some custom poured on mustad hooks that I'll be using soon The first day I ever fished these I caught my 3 largest browns of the year. In just a few hours of fishing i tie them in 1/8 oz heads and throw them on my 7wt fly rod their heavy and get straight to the bottom. They hold right there and don't move until you strip them. Similar to a sculpin typically on the river I fish olives and blacks but I'm excited to see how the purples and pinks work as well. Thanks I've only recently gotten back into tying and it's a great creative outlet for me.
