He started In ND but with bad weather and standing crops he pulled out and headed for Nebraska. I don't know how long he spent In Nebraska but he's know In Kansas. And will trap there till the coyotes start to break down. they are starting to break NOW. Yes they are ,,even in Montana ,,, coming to a close for all pretty good ones,, now it's a pick and choose time.

He use's #3 Duke round jaws and #4 Vic round jaws. Screen pan covers and peat moss. Every thing Is base plated and 4 coiled.
Made 20 some sets today.
Out of the 12 caught today one had mange and one had lice damage so he only skinned 10.
He's trapping mostly open land so he's not seeing any fur damage caused by heavy cover.
He said $34.99 wasn't enough. LOL

Well he told me he had some where around 600 traps just set up for coyotes. I never asked what brand of trap and what If any changes he makes to those traps. Next time I talk to him I'll ask. Beav, tell Robert he should sell the traps he used for this Quest. Just box them up after finished trapping and ship them out. I'd take one for $34.99 delivered. Before he started on the quest, u asked about buying a trap from him and I believe he said $40 not including shipping. And that was before he killed a grand of em.

I've tested a fair amount of commercial lures and bait and a lot dont impress me. The best bait I've tested so far is one a friend of mine made and I will say its loaded with some natural glands that aren't found naturally in a dirt hole. The second best thing I've tested is a bait I make with 2 ingredients and both are very editable to the coyotes.

Would be interesting to see what he uses?
He augers a hole not sure the size. He stuffs part of a muskrat In it and applies urine. And that's about It.

Todays update.
7 coyotes killed and 2 domestic dogs released. 5 coyotes caught in remakes only 2 caught In new sets. Robert say's things look pretty dead on this new ground. But the wind did blow all day and all night so that may of had some effect on the coyote movement. Can't get Into new ground till Monday so he may have to go back and check on the old ground to see If any of those old sets have been worked.
Update on gear.
All his coyote traps are offset. He wants the mechanical advantage that off sets give him. And he does trap In states that require offsets.
All His anchors are the Iowa bullet type anchors. When dealing with frozen ground he uses a drill bit to get through the frost to get a pilot hole started. In some types of ground he will cross stake his earth anchors. All anchors are retrieved.
Stay tuned.
