Although we are not great friends, North Korea and the U.S. have made fair progress pretty quickly compared to past years. I think there may have been some people over there that "went away" in order for that to happen. It's possible that the people that look to be running a country (mouthpieces)are not always the people that are actually in control of the country.

Multiple rockets hit a military base in Iraq on Saturday where U.S. troops are stationed while mortars were fired at a high-security facility that houses the U.S. Embassy, according to multiple reports.

Reuters reported, “Several rockets fell on Saturday inside Baghdad’s heavily fortified Green Zone, its Jadriya neighborhood, and the Balad air base housing U.S. troops.”

The Times of Israel reported that sources said that sirens “immediately rang out at the American compound in Baghdad hosting both diplomats and troops.”


There was no immediate word on who was responsible for the attacks or if there were any casualties.

The attacks come two days after U.S. forces killed Qasem Soleimani, the head of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Quds Force, which is a designated terrorist organization.

Soleimani was killed along with top Iraqi paramilitary commander Abu Mahdi al-Mohandes, who headed the Iranian-linked Popular Mobilization Forces, when an American MQ-9 Reaper drone targeted a convoy carrying the two men as they left Baghdad International Airport.

“An Iranian official says at least 35 U.S. targets have been identified for retaliatory strikes after the country’s president chillingly vowed to exact revenge for the killing of General Qassem Soleimani,” The Daily Mail reported on Saturday. “Targets include ships in the Persian Gulf, the Strait of Hormuz and Tel Aviv.”

Iran was a lot more friendly to the US than most other countries in that part of the world before the Shah was overthrown. They were likely the most westernized society before the overthrow. And not everyone there was happy with the overthrow when it happened and over time, I suspect an even bigger percentage of the population are not happy with the leadership that are in place today. Even if there is a popular revolution and the current government is overthrown, there will still be a big divide in the ideology of the various factions of the people of Iran. And the radicals will still be there.

Even they can do the math. If every time they kill one of ours a hundred of theirs would meet their maker, they would soon stop that nonsense.

Navy brass is itching for some contact. They're very seriously worries that our sailors have gotten soft and sleepy while other branches have tightened and hardened up.
