Last winter I fell on the heavily covered with ice ground. A slight amount of snow covered it and on a small down grade.
It has taken me all this last summer to recoup from that. Doing the splits at 71 is not fun.
So this year for my boots that I wear ice fishing and in general I've purchased an item to help.
Their called icespikes. Fur Fish and game advertised them in the January issue.
I sent for two sets(16 each) of the 1/2" threaded. There is an 3/8" versions as well.
Both my muck boots and rubber knee boots have them now. My NEW YEARS resolution! (don't fall again)
Fast and easy using a 1/4" driver in a variable drill or impact. Their not just a sheet metal screw. Their harder.
My confidence is better knowing I won't be laid up for a time because I'm getting older and to the wise I hope.
Just one set is $19.99 plus shipping.
Good luck to all.

X3 These were a game changer for me! Better than caulk boots for steep slippery hillsides.

Looks like they would do the job. Will have to look them up.

Me too. Wear them ice fishing and climbing in and out of steep ravines cat trapping. One of my better investments. I have used the Hillsound brand too, and they are good.

I have the rubber ones on a pair of older shoes. They tend to slip around the shoe some.
Most times in the winter I'm wearing boots for outside. I can slip them off before going into the house.
To each their choice.
Thanks

I went on my butt deer hunting a week ago. Two steps out of the truck and was down so fast didn't even have time to think about it.. I've got several different kind of ice creepers didn't even think about wearing them where took the spill.. I do find thought that the creepers like so many things. They can be real personal choice based on what your using them for. I have a pair of the cheap rubber slip on kind under seat of both vehicles think their HT brand. I find they actually work pretty good for most things I do. I have another heavier pair that strap to my big pack boots. Kind of like a rubber sole with sheet metal screws in them. I use them when ice fishing or pushing the boat on the ice. Also have a pair that has like 3/4 spikes on metal plates that strap on. I use them most when pushing the boat on the ice. Thing is now that I'm older guess I don't pick my feet up as well so I tend to trip just walking on them long pins. I do like the looks of them Micro-Spikes might have to get me a pair.. Looks they'd grab good and I'd probably be tripping on them..

i hope you didnt break anything? Nope landed on my head can't hurt that LOL! Actually landed right on my fake left hip. Surprised didn't even sound like metal pipe hitting ice??..Didn't hurt any worse than I remember when I've fallen on real ones..Do have a bruise about big around as palm of my hand right over the zipper where they put the metal in....Doctors don't like me doing that stuff.. I'll survive I'm kinda like a rat that way.. Mac

Saw these 2 years ago.....when a NH Fish and Game Officer was checking our licenses at an ice fishing derby..wearing these things. I said..if they are good enough for fish and game officers...that’s good enough for me. These are best...
