It took me 6 yrs to get a bobcat tag, so that will be my focus. I also have a fisher tag. I plan on setting some exposed pan footholds for cats (I may put a shingle of some sort on it). Curious your thoughts as to what a fisher will think of that

The fisher won't think twice about it. They step on exposed pans in box sets all the time.
The only constant in trapping is change so keep learning.

I wonder if coon are afraid of exposed foothold traps I caught 8 coon in bobcat cubbies with exposed pans this year.
Wish I had more time to trap....

When you cat trappers are using exposed steel, which I'm doing right now, is it smart in this northern non rocky (often flat) less populated bobcat climate to leave the entire foothold trap exposed or is it best to just leave the pan exposed? 1 advantage to exposed sets is it should keep yotes (& maybe deer) out. I've waited 6 yrs for my cat tag & want my best chance @ filling the tag. Maybe some of you in the midwest just have the best luck burying the entire set.?

Fisher and bobcat aren’t the smartest animals out there running around the bush. They won’t think twice about stepping on an exposed trap. Just fence them in good That's good to know fishers don't mind guiding, thanks. Do grey fox mind exposed traps?
