So Was looking through my trailer and found a couple of hundred feet of left over Amstel line. 3/16th in diameter. Its a bear to cut but I think it would serve well instead of chain on pretty much any trap. I don't think that a critter will be able to chew through that stuff and it holds way more than chain or steel wire and is very light. Has anyone used it on here as I am sure going to try it out at some point on some song dog sets. For the folks that don't know Amstel. It is a dyneema thread much like braided fishing line. Like kevlar, they also use it for bullet proof vests and to tie up ships etc. That 3/16th line that I have has a working load of 5000 pounds an next to zero stretch to it.

You would be surprised at what a trapped animal can chew thru.

If it's anything like powerpro fishing line it's strong but not abrasion proof. I imagine after a few catches it would be quite fuzzy. With time that would be it's breaking point. X2

These days the stuff is even used as standing rigging on racing yachts. I'll give the stuff a go and will report back about my findings. I just like the idea of tying it to the trap swivel and then to whatever i'll use as an anchor for it.Just using knots as that is what I am used to .. not beat up nuts around a wire and stuff like that. Worth a shot me thinks.

coyotes can chew threw 3/32 steel cable. when in a trap they usually bite the trap. they really can, and do, chew out of no kill snares

how easy is it to add swivels Scooby? Just tie the swivels in or if you use a fid, you can splice them in in no time . The thing is, this stuff in so soft and you can not kink it. Will one even need extra swivels ??

Being soft it will get all the chewing attention of the coyote because it is softer to chew than steel . If its easier to cut with a knife than 3/32 cable it will eventually fail . I guess it will work until it dosn't Its probably like twin loop chain it may work fine for five coyotes or fifty then one chews it apart .
