Sad day indeed but the rain and floodwater will go away and traps will be reset How's the fur looking ? My last coon from 4 days ago was slightly rubbed and had a lot of biting. Usually around this time my coyotes are rubbed or the fur is braking down. My best fur comes from Thanksgiving to Christmas.

We can meet at my house or we could all get together at the Fried Egg in Wabash for breakfast and drink coffee and get to know each other.

I pulled all of my traps just before the big rain, also.
I had probably my best year ever. My ninie 9 coyotes this year more than doubled my previous season record of 4. Plus I caught a couple beaver and 8 muskrats on a short water line. A half-dozen nice, prime racoons also found their way into my coyote traps. The best thing was that my young sons spent more time on the trapline with me this year. They even each caught their own muskrats in their own traps that they set.
I caught a red fox on the last day my traps were out. I thought that was a nice bookend to the season because my first catch of the season was also a red fox. To celebrate such a wonderful trapping season we decided to release the red fox. I hope it goes out makes a big litter of fox babies.

A few years back I released a red fox on cold Christmas morning. It was a beautiful snow covered morning as the fox and I watched the sun rise together. Sounds corny, but I'll always remember that moment.
