Washington law could be overturned if someone cared to fight it. Washington state (that's for you, NVcat smile ) law was passed via the initiative process. That initiative should easily be challenged under Washington state constitution and a lack of clarity of what it encompassed. Without legal challenge, the answer to the OP question is a resounding NO.

There will always be trappers just how we get paid will be different in some States, you can trap for the fur or be paid well doing ADC work If that’s the only way. Look at Cali outlaw trapping then asking for millions to control nutria a short time later.

True. But, even then some of these animal lovers place the value of an animal above that of a human being.

A meeting I was at 20 years ago regarding the delisting of the gray wolf, it was apparent that the ARs attending placed the value of a wolf well above that of anyone's pet. Stories were told by homeowners where wolves came into their yard, killed and carried off a small dog, cat, or other pet that the homeowner considered part of the family. The days of wolves being wary of humans is long gone.

The difference between animals and humans is that animals would never let the dumbest ones lead the pack.

There may be opportunity if there was an educational component to training and trapping with some high degrees of regulation. That may get some states back in the game, but with more restrictions than many may want to have. High degrees of regulation and have some burdensome aspects as well that could spill over to other regions and states.
I know WI gets a lot of negative discussion because we are highly regulated when compared to several states. WI has done this more as a proactive aspect then a reactive aspect which obviously causes different camps of belief .
I would think that states with limited to no trapping could benefit from efforts to remove restrictions. They have little to noting to lose. Having discussions on how to proceed with other states still actively trapping would be good however. I see the amount of monies that are spent in reacting to referendums and laws and always wonder if we have better options.

Hats off to those people for taking the time to get involved.
One example is our red fox used to be totally protected... politically controlled by our legislature instead of DNR... you could not even pick up a road kill or possess one. We were/are overrun with red fox. Today we have a 3 1/2 month season (way to long for any fur value), but it shows the changes that have occurred that just plain "make sense".
We even have some livable snaring (relaxing lock) regulations in place today in DE, unheard of just a few years ago.

And we aren't going to give up the fight!

We have more laws and regulations that are changing in our favor this year, when the new regulation package passes.

Next on my agenda is getting body grip traps over 5" for use in the water...
