Has anyone tried using those for snare supports? I drilled a hole in them and was going to run support wire thru. Used all my freedom brand snare supports already

I've got some 1/2" posts that were predrilled for running electric fence lines through. Only thing I worry about on them is the spinning issue.

If you want something lightweight that doesn't spin and quite cheap, get some wood concrete pickets(look like survey stakes but slightly thicker and about 18"). Or cut up some tomato stakes and drill two holes for the wires.

I used a 7/8" fg rod last year for a deep water beaver snare set. It worked perfect.

Ya beaver is what I was originally going to use them for. But not going to target beaver til March. Wondering if the fiberglass would be a good option for land

#9 wire would work if you have some.

I started using 1 of these this month. It's great. It doubles as a device to make a hole in the ground to place a guide stick

Ya I used that before. U should check out the freedom brand snare supports. Those and 10' extension cable and it's really fast and productive.

If your worried about those stakes spinning just drill a hole about 4" from the bottom and shove a nail through the hole. Drive the support until the nail goes Into the ground a bit and your good to go.

I cut a 4' fiberglass rod in half.



Tape where your are going to drill hole. This will prevent splitting and fraying.


Wire can be bent thru holes to secure.




A pencil sharpener will point ends...


This support will spin. So a few inches up from the end is bent wire. Spinning problem solved.

Yes they work. I have used them on coyotes, cats, fox ,beaver, otter, coons. First snare supports I started with. Use a nail like (The Beaver )said too.

I do spray paint fiberglass supports to blend in. This is so the 'grey' doesn't stand out to other outdoorsmen, walkers or thieves.

My buddy just cuts some small willow branches and just drives a pilot hole with a Re bar stake.

I paint mine too. I had coyotes beaver and coons chew on them.

Yep me too..I have a few dozen of these and they worked great for rat trapping.....picking up more cables and wire Saturday.
