Didn't these two guys do an earlier video in another location...? I'm pretty sure I watched it, October coon enthusiast! This video is better, especially when they show the finished tanned split coon hide. So, if what they say about the potential of blue and slate coon being just a good as say mid-December beautiful white leather, and if fur buyers know this, then aren't they really ripping off early season coon by down-grading those skins on average...?
P.S. I've never caught a teety sow like those in January or even Feb around here, I've caught them in the fall when they must have had a late litter.

I agree, though, that late season coon, even at higher latitudes, are a crap shoot, some are still pretty good, some aren't worth the effort.

Sam likes to be master of ceremonies. But, I’ve learned a lot from watching his videos so I’ll give him credit for being informative.
I suspect big fall coon have good flanks. Medium to large coon flanks aren’t as well furred. Depending on what part of the country you’re in, November coon are probably the best, for the highest percent that have well furred flanks.
Fall yote sets tend to produce huge coon (for me). They’re late October but the fur quality is good. Years ago, somebody told me they rank as “good unprime” coon and that’s what sticks in my mind. I’d rather get huge coon in mid November but we’re usually fighting snow and ice then and the catch drops off due to the iffy weather patterns, deer seasons, and family obligations. In a nutshell, I’ll coyote-trap coon and take them when I can get them.
Never too old to learn
