we took the kids when they were little.
it was nice. Flew down first week in November.
we were at an unattached Disney resort they ran shuttles but we rented a car on my dad's advice.
my wife was like why do we need the car we could take the shuttle , right up until we passed a shuttle and a guy was so smashed against the glass door the fat on the back of his arms was pressed flat against the glass. right then the claustrophobic wife said I am so glad we rented a car.

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Best of luck to ya. I hate that place but I’ve been there four times. Same reason as you. We were there with the grandkids ( they loved it) last January. Ran the marathon with my daughter. The place was absolutely packed. If ya use fast pass, at least ya can get on 3 rides. There were wait lines of up to four hours!! Who in their right mind would wait for a ride for four hours??? If ya decide to have lunch at a normal lunch time, good luck. Everything is packed and it’s another long line. Then try to get a seat. Ha. Suggest ya go on the Disney app and you can order on your phone. Ya still wait but not as long. Then still good luck with seats. By the way, it was 80 degrees down there in January
Hope your trip goes well. Have a magical time

So far as i expected but weve technically only been here for one meal. 3 hour round trip for dinner with almost no wait. And hotel still hasnt delivered our suitcases. Regret agreeto that one. Much easier just carrying myself and i would have them. Be wearing same clothes tomorrow im afraid.

Im not in to any of this sorta thing. It does nothing for me. Get through it and be done. At least weather is decent.

Half day at Hollywood studios. Ended well, started poorly. Resting now. Running on almost no sleep hence the poor start. Starting to figure out how to manage this mess. Going back for a show and fireworks tonight. Then it's Magic Kingdom in the morning.

My advice, if you have the meal plan, use it to your advantage. We went in November. Best time I could’ve been in a tree stand and I’m stuck looking at a stuffed mouse and his annoying compadres. But, making the best of a bad situation, I got a beer with EVERY meal. And, since the other adults were drinking water, I had them order a beer as well. It made things much easier. In fact, we plan to return in a couple years. It wasn’t nearly as bad as I’d anticipated and I’m glad to have gone. Girls had a blast. That’s the best part of it. Made it worthwhile. Also, check out the Avatar ride in AK. It’ll make the day worthwhile for sure.

I keep desperately hoping that one day someone will call me "Sir" without adding "please calm down" or "you're causing a scene."

When I was a kid the folks got a bug in their butts to move south, Florida was beckoning. Off we went. We bopped around for a few weeks and I loved it....no school, parking the slide-in camper on the beach and fishing day after day. It was near Huck Finny as you could get. The Old man was a heavy equipment operator and he got wind of some big project where they needed crane and dozer guys. We drove off into the oak, pine, and palmetto woods to find the job site and foreman to see if they needed my Pappy's services. It was, literally, out in the middle of nowhere. If memory serves me, the carpenters were on strike and the guy told my Old man to come back later on. We never returned there and ended up down in Broward county. Those out in the middle of nowhere woods are now wall-to-wall people. The project was Disney world, that was sometime in 1967.

Neat. Amazing what you learn listening to folks. We did ok today. Better if i had gotta any decent sleep. Slow start and a bit frustrating. We have some special breakfast in the Magic Kingdom before they open then spend rest of day there. Little girl is loving it so far. Wife seems content. Now if i could only get some real zzz tonight. I hate hotels.

Just made it home. Safe and sound. It's only been 5 total days but looking forward to get the old routine back. More good than bad on the trip. My wife did a really good job on the planning. Found out that im more equipped to keep us on schedule and think through logistics. But she had a really good plan with the Fast Passes, meals, and special reservations. Definitely worked together for best possible outcome within our control. Im definitely not and expert nor do i ever want to be. Weather cooperated, which really helped. I could see not having a good time in oppressive heat or heavy rain.

Of course little girl had a great time even though she can't appreciate what her mom did for her yet. Already wants to go back, but daddy gets to plan the next vacation. grin
