About half of mine have required a second dose (first dose always rendered them unconscious within 10 seconds).

Fast & Easy to make...
Here's how I made my jab pole-

I used 4' fiberglass post

with a steel pipe to fit over end of fiberglass post, about 2" long

cut 4 slots in one end of steel pipe

file all burrs in slots

cut off thumb piece (round top) of plunger to create a cross

fit plunger into slots, file if needed for better fit

Attach metal to fiberglass (epoxy or glue) and you are good to go.

I did modify my pole to 5' long with handle.
I cut off a golf putter (yard sale fine) and epoxy'd the putter handle to fiberglass. Plus a camo paint job.

Sweet! Thanks for sharing that Hern.

Keep your boots dry and your powder too.

I remember when a fur check was reality.....now I'm just trapping for the love of it.

After having the plunger snap off on me twice, I decide to have one made out of stainless steel. I just use the rubber off the plastic syringe and the ss plunger screws fits into an 8' fiberglass rod.

Is rubber breaking down or sticking in the ID. For injecting meat on smoker I spray Pan non stick to lub.

The rubber swells and prevents the syringe from working. I use a light weight motor oil to coat it afterwards but that only goes so far. Now I replaced the rubber end with a chemical resistant O-ring.

All surgical gloves fail quick working with acetone. Latex has the most resistance compared to nitrile gloves.

Here's my new push stick with a replaceable o-ring. You can use just about and 3/8" rod, thread it and cut it to your preferred legnth.

Also been developing a longer syringe. A bit more complicated but it works great.

If you get tired of acetone, vodka is supposed to work as well.
Got this from a bait maker who says bait makers using skunk carcasses won’t take an acetone dispatched skunk.

You run the risk of a ticket with an open bottle with vodka. Lot's of other things you can use that work just as good and cheaper.

Rubbing alcohol works for me, I have used the same plunger for over 100. I never rinse or worry about it.

I use rubbing alcohol and it might take more than one dose, but then you can still use the skunk carcasses for other things in trapping…..and other animals are still attracted to it at a bait station. Acetone creates a toxic waste carcass mess that nothing will eat and also can’t be broken down in the bait/ lure room. It is ruined for bait making. Most folks are unaware of its use in this venue.
