My favorite was always the dry pork Pattie. And the cheese spread and crackers. Chicken a la king was second favorite

Life's too short, enjoy everyday like it was your last.

When I arrived to my first unit, the sergeant thought that it would be a good idea for me to eat chicken-ala-king and turkey with gravy everyday for 10 days. It was years before I could eat poultry again.

My favorite was meal #9: meatballs rice and tomato sauce (smoke flavor added). Came with a candy bar. Also had crackers, hot cocoa, and creamer- great for making "pudding!" (1989-92)

In the dark brown cases, I liked the spaghetti and meatballs. It had M&Ms in it. Saw two grunts fight over it once. You put your chocolate cocoa in the apple sauce for chocolate pudding. Yes, you would find artery material in the beef stew. Take your sugar packet, pour it in your creamer packet, light it on fire for a marshmallow. When I ETSed in 95, my platoon got to go to the field for a week just to try out the new light brown packs. Now they were gourmet!

I will starve before I ever eat another MRE. T rats were ok, lasagna and the blueberrie cake were the bomb back in the day smile At my first duty station in FT Devens MA, we were the test dummies for Natick. They had us try the LARP meals, 5 bars of saw dust, YUCK!

chilli mac and the chicken ala king. When I was real young I remember my Uncle Marvin giving us some of his rations when he was home on leave from Vietnam. Grandma always conficscated the small packs of smokes I cant remember what brand.

Our German ones are best given to the enemy as they tend to do more damage than most of our antiquated weaponry.
