I can see why it would be necessary to use that on newer Lodge cookware cause the cooking surface is rougher than a cob. But I'm with you, ain't no way I need that for my cast iron.

I wonder if tap dancers walk into a room, look at the floor, and think, I'd tap that. I wonder about things.....

Toss that and the iron pan and get a good teflon one.

Wife has a couple teflon pans but I am partial to good old cast iron pans, not a fan Lodge at all.

Probably works pretty good if you’re going to reseason the pan.

Seems like a bad idea but...what if the chain mail is smooth enough that it doesn't abrade the seasoning off of the pan? Maybe it cuts through the burned on eggs but leaves the pan in good condition. Just trying to figure out the thought behind this.

I use SS scrub pads and hot water on mine but most of my users are newer rougher stuff. I hit them hard with circular scrubbing and it does even up and smooth out the seasoning to some degree. The older smooth stuff wouldn't need it.

When I got married the wife hated my set of cast cookware “it to heavy” just last week she used one again now we have 2 on the stove she must of forgot about that original complaint or thought I forgot. You gotta love the marriage dynamics. LOL

If Teflon gets to hot it emits a poisonous gas that's been known to kill pet birds within the home. Well documented cases exist . Also digesting the tiny flakes of Teflon that come off from a well used pan is no good either. Both of these reasons are why you see so many new "copper coat" and "enameled coated" non stick cookware vs. Teflon. I eat eggs every day fried in a 50 year cast iron pan , seasoned so well eggs slide right out of the pan.

What's the concern with metal utensils ? It's all they had up until 60 -70 years ago. Never seen a problem using them on mine.

Enough with the tree hugger stuff, next thing you'll be hanging out with greta.
You probably live next to a coal plant-a little teflon wont hurt you.
