Anybody have a set that fools an educated coyote. I’m dealing with some smart ones. Only allowed to use padded traps.

Here's one if you want to go do some work. Start with a blank dirt hole a nice large hole with lots of dirt and a nice sifted pattern out front with no trap. next move down about 12 to 15 feet I make a similar hole, only bait with just a sliver of fresh bait. Again move over about 12 to 15 feet and dig your dirt hole with a trap. Stuff the hole with a nice fresh bait. If you don't know what direction he is coming from you will have to repeat the first steps on the other side of the baited hole,thus you will have five holes total. One other thing you could do as long as you're there is to set a trap next to a clump of grass and Blended in. No lure or bait, let it age for about a week to 10 days. Then if they are still laughing at your dirt holes, drive up to your clump of grass open the door don't get out and give your clump of grass a shot of urine. I don't remember exactly where I got this from but it might have been a Slim P. thing.

What are they doing that’s smart?

A well blended natural urine set with just urine is hard to beat in my experience.

An Old Timer once told me "Never seen a coyote yet that can count ta two" 2 dirt holes about 2 feet apart, 2 different lure/baits and 2 traps offset to the middle It's been my go to for problem coyotes for years. They seem to get confused between the 2 scents and dance back and forth and forget where their feet are...Just my 2 cents

Subtle well blended set, if you can find urine the group left, use that, pee post or territorial set

Blind sets guarding the trails leading towards or away from the sets will get done most times .
