One across my belly botton area another lower on right side. How bad is this operation? Will I be able to get around right away. All I have is me and a little dog, wondering if afterward I will be able to walk him and take care of him?

Had the operation , and the doc wanted me to walk. but i was younger at the time if you are older might take a little longer.

Had both sides done with local and out by 11am.

Had two done. Inguinal hernias on both sides. Don’t sneeze ,laugh ,or cough without squeezing a pillow tight to your abdomen. You will be able to walk but will have to take it easy for a few weeks.

Had my umbilical hernia done in 2015.

Didn't hurt while I was out,

but when i woke up I cried like a girl.

Hurt like (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman).

You won't want to move much for 3 or 4 days.

I had 2 done at the same time in 2018 ,I had hurt some but the pain pills took care of that, but felt better and did not know my gut was sticking out like it did , I know my right side was worst then my left side but had both done at the same time. Just need to take easy like what was stated.

had a umbilical hernia repaired 4 yrs ago was sore for a few days per his word no lifting over 10 lbs for several weeks then he upped the wt. gradualy over the next 2 months to 50 lbs.
he also said it would take about a yr to fully knit if you feel a pinch stop what your doing
it was not painful at all just took advil for several days after
jmo be mindful of what you are doing and how you do it no problems now at all

Had the lower one done 2016 with the 3 holes in the belly then they blow you up like a balloon the Doc said that was the easiest way, I should of asked for who. Belly muscles weak for longer then I thought they would be, I flopped around like a fish for a week, sucked.

I would line up some help with the dog the first couple of days just in case it won’t hurt to be ready. They gave me 30 pain pills took 2 they did nothing for me and I don’t do meds.

Good luck prepare for the worst mobility wise and hope for the best is all a guy can do.

I had one repaired in my groin about 30 years ago. He cut about a 4 inch hole in me. I was under for the operation and felt fine when I woke up. However that changed about the time I got home. Rhonda decided to rent a video for us to watch and it was a funny one. Every time I laughed it hurt like hades and she just laughed. Sometimes I think she has a mean streak in her. I think they do it differently nowadays.

Ya I had a double hernia, they also found small one by belly button on the way out. Robotic is much better than big cut.
Hydrocodone helped a lot, I quit taking it when pain got better, I could tell it could be addicting.
The Dr was right, don't lift more than ten lbs for so many weeks, I could tell I was much better about a week before weight restrictions ended

I had one in my groin area 10 years ago. Out surgery and it never hurt. Just a little sore. Didn’t have to take any pain meds. Even did some slow walking that day to visit the next door neighbor. In 1971, I had one on the other side. I was in the hospital for a week and it really hurt that first night. That is how things have changed.

4 here, both sides the 1st time... left side a year later and a vasectomy throw in for good measure... left side done again in a year w/ mesh put in... 25+ years later all is well. Yea I had pain, but I'm a wuss... I had 3-4" incisions all 4 times, they didn't do laposcopy (sp?) surgery then, it was just being used a couple of years later.

Amen. Had 2 myself. It’s rough for a hot minute but it doesn’t hold you back much after the healing begins.

If they give you pain medicine do as directed and don't get behind.
I was told I would be off work for a couple days, I milked it for a week. I still use it to get me out of certain tasks like filling the water softener with salt, carrying in groceries, splitting wood. I had mine done 2 years ago.
