Help with track identification. Sorry the track wasn't super close up. The wide open picture is where the track was found. Its an old beaver pond that had the (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman) blown out by high water two years ago and the beaver moved to close by river. These tracks came from an old beaver house with almost no water under it. I was thinking otter but not sure. I have never caught an otter and am currently trapping the area to find out. Iv'e caught one beaver so far on the river and some huge rats but no otter. Hope the pictures work, I'm new at this and first time trapping in about 7 years. I have never done a lot of trapping on rivers, any opinions would be welcome.

Otter tracks are like cross between coon and coyote.

Thanks.

I didn't think it was coon cause how cold out it had been and the stride. I feel stupid for asking now. The tracks went from the house to an abandoned bank den where it went inside the bank den.
Thanks to everyone for the answer though.

Would an otter have a tail drag mark? Do they drag their tails when walking?

Otters legs are short....you’d see a belly drag in the snow

Abandoned beaver bank dens are very common denning sites for raccoon that live along rivers and great spots to catch substantial numbers on warmer winter evenings.
