I sure hope those castor averages stay high for the sale this weekend. Would be a nice little check.

I had 39 put up possums and got &1.75 for them. Most all the green possums were .50-.75 cents. Which brought better put up possums or coons? Otterdog didn't you get about the same price Spot posted on your green castor?

Spot did those averages on castor seem to be about the norm or yours just a bright spot in the sale?

I take it the caster was dry and good grade? Green That's great new! Thanks for letting me know. Out of the few beaver I have caught so far this year the casters have been really poor, even on the 50+ pounders. I dont know why maybe when I move location they will get better.

I had 39 put up possums and got &1.75 for them. Most all the green possums were .50-.75 cents. Which brought better put up possums or coons? Otterdog didn't you get about the same price Spot posted on your green castor? Exactly the same. $71 per pound And I got the same for the put up possums as I did some of my put up coons The best I got for put up coons was $3. It was terrible. Like I keep saying you just have to love doing it cause it sure doesn’t pay. Lol. Malvern is a funny sale. I can’t figure the buyers out. They act and bid differently every year and not just because the market changes. This year nobody wanted coons. Last couple of years I had a green coyote or two that I didn’t get put up so I threw them on the table green. Got twice as much for them as my put up coyotes. So this year I kept, what I thought to be, my best coyotes in the freezer to sell green I put up about the other half of again what I thought to be my lesser coyotes Well guess what I got twice as much for the put up ones than the green ones. Lol. Needless to say I will never be a fur buyer. Lol

Well I hope my castor goes as well. Pull out shells for personnel use. Numbers 1's and 2's, semi-dry is what I'll be offering. Haven't weighed yet but I figure with the 70 plus beaver I've caught, I'll have over 10 lbs. Was blessed this season with an abundance of beaver within close proximity. To say my gas expenses were $5 per week is pushing it to the high side. Hopefully my all in beaver trapping season will pay off.

J, someone elses castor sold for $70 a pound green. It was toward the beginning of the sale. So at least three of us sold for $70 + I think roughly 10 beavers make a pound of castor

Spot you made me curious so I went and weighed what is ready. Out of an estimated 60 beaver, not counting shells are the ones in cold storage waiting for the flu virus to leave me so they can be skinned, I weighed my castor and had 8 lbs. So probably a good bet somewhere between 8 to 10 beaver per pound. Guess it's the outdoorsman in me. The fish are always bigger, the antlers wider, and the castor weighs more. Lol.
