Well, that's about it. My faith in humanity is at an all-time low. Thank goodness my father passed away before this news went public. He was my Boy Scout master back in the 60s. Almost an even mix of John Wayne and Archie Bunker tempered with a little bit of Roy Rogers.

That article says the scouts have no assets. I don't see how thats possible with all the different properties they own. Just what they own in NM and Colorado would be astronomical. I am suspicious of that articles facts

My scoutmaster was as good a man as you could ask for, donated tons of time and effort just to help out us kids. He later spent years working with girl scouts with his daughters. Really a guy who spent a great deal of his time helping others. Really grateful I had the opportunity to learn from the guy.

Those men that served as volunteers from our church as scout masters were great influencers on my life as I grew in those younger years. Some were very good woodsman themselves and taught me skills I still use some today. I still have random thoughts of those early years as a scout.

It is a shame what has happened to the organization. I blame the left leaning society for much if not all of this tragedy and the scout organization for caving to social pressure to make the changes that came along the way.

I no longer support them or girl scouts, walk on past when they're selling cookies now, figure the LGBTQXYZ bunch can support them and buy their stuff now.

The boy scouts had a very positive influence on my life.

Back in the early 70's though there was a scoutmaster from Colorado Springs that went to prison for molesting/raping boys.

Much as I don't like liberal political position's I am confident liberals don't have much use for pedophiles either. Heck, even career criminals in prison don't like them. They have to be segregated. Personally I think pedophilia is a crime that warrants the death penalty.

If boy scout higher higher really did cover up pedophile activity, instead of destroying scouting they ought to get locked up with the degenerates.

When I was active in boy scouts our leader was a survivor of the Baton Death March and about as good of a man as you could ask for his assistants were also as we're the leaders after we moved.

The boy scout camp near here is up in the mountains and worth millions with the brand new lodge that was just built with a view of another nearby mtn range . They also have a very nice scout camp at the base of the Beartooth mtns near Red Lodge

I say good. I was involved in scouts all the from tiger Cubs to eagle scout,and spent a year as an assistant scoutmaster. Went to Philmont, summer camp order of the arrow, all that jazz. Today I wont get my boys involved in it, it's strayed way too far from its original intent of raising boys into men. Way too much female involvement now. Nothing wrong with women obviously, but boys need men to raise them into men, and when troops start allowing girls in and have female scoutmasters (like our local troop) that's just too far. I can start my own father's group.

Back in the 80's a local DR was big time boy scout leader. He was caught in the act with a young boy. The police went to arrest him and he wanted to change his clothes before being took to jail. Went into his bed room and blew his brains out !!!!!!!

Some stories have a happy ending.

The BSA has all girl troops now, where no boys are allowed.

Sadly the reason you have so many women involved in leadership positions is because men aren't getting involved.

My sons troop had a female leader. Not a scoutmaster, but a certified leader. She was probably one of the best influences on those boys on the journey to manhood.
She is a CPA.
She taught them math (blackjack)
She taught them how to treat a woman.
There were a lot of times those boys would go to her with problems because they didn't feel comfortable talking to a man about them.
She would go on most of the camping trips.
She was also the secretary and treasurer for the troop. Our troop had money for every scout to attend most events, even national jamboree.

She was also one of the strictest disciplinarians in the troop. You acted bad on her watch the punishment was fast and usually fit the "crime" one had committed.

My son and a few others credit her with pushing them when they were being butts and it came down to time to get their Eagle.

Along with . . . trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.

Any organization whose purpose is serving kids is bound to be a magnet for pedophiles. In addition to the acts of the pedophiles, another crime is when those organization's officials choose to cover up the problem.
