I bought my wife a little .243 to hunt with. She’s short and on all my scopes she has to lean up close to look through. I can’t seem to get one on her rifle that suits her. I know there’s a solution for this. Is it extended eye relief or what? I want to mount one on there she can comfortably look through without having to lean into it. Thanks.

What ranges will she be shooting? A red dot may be an option.

Take her and the rifle to a gun smith have her measured for length of pull. EER scopes are for pistol and scout type rifles they typically have 12-14” of eye relief. What she is doing is called stock crawling, very common in people of small stature.

I also suggest shorting her length of pull. Heavy winter clothing will make it worse.

It’s not an eye relief issue (although longer would help).

As has been said, she needs a shorter length of pull and/or set the scope back further in the rings.

To long of an LOP is the problem not scope eye relief. We have the same issue here. I need to extend the LOP on almost all of my rifles with spacers or slip on recoil pads whereas the missus would need a shorter than original stock. She shoots the M1carbine and 10/22 pretty good as they are or an AR with the stock pushed in a notch or so. With everything else here she is rubber necking to look through the scope

First try this scope before you go cutting on your rifle.... https://www.opticsplanet.com/vortex-crossfire-ii-2-7x32-rifle-scope.html I used it for my boy so he can grow into the gun. Its cheap and will work even if you have to do some rifle modification later on. It works great though. I have 4 of them now I believe.

I like the Vortex 2-7x32 with a EGW extended base https://www.egwguns.com/scope-mounts-rings/ bases and Weaver quad lock high 1 inch extended rings
https://www.amazon.com/Weaver-1-Inch-Extension-Detachable-Rings/dp/B000U6AG3A?th=1

I have not found anything I could not get mounted with this combo

it is important to understand that to get consistent cheek weld you need to Turkey neck and drop this means extend the neck as far forward as you can without straining and drop

the other thing is LOP place the but of the rifle in her bent elbow , she should just be able to place the pad of her index finger on the trigger if she is short you may very well need to get the stock cut down to her proper length of pull.

getting far enough back is never my issue as I am tall with a 14 inch length of pull

getting the rifle fit for her , proper length of pull and proper turkey neck and drop cheek weld , with proper eye relief

when you go to mount the scope a bit of painters tape on the scope with the top of the rings off have her get down in prone turn the magnification to highest and with a good cheek weld find were she can see clear edge to edge she stays put you move the scope back and forth till it is right mark the tape with a pencil where the ring lines up

then standing with good cheek weld and lowest power find were she has a clear image edge to edge mark the tape with the pencil

your hoping that both of these can be the same place but sometimes you need to split the difference for mounting

you may very well have to raise her cheek off the stock with a spacer , card board and painters tape or yoga mat and horse wrap tape till she with good cheek weld can see strait through the scope no shadow on the edges. you can find a nicer looking way to get her proper comb height later you just need to find the correct height . make sure she closes here eyes takes a few breaths to relax then opens them and without moving decided is she can see clearly edge to edge.

here is a picture of one of my rifles I use sleeping pad and horse wrap with hocky tape over the top to lock it all in , on another rifle I have a Hornady cheek pad https://www.opticsplanet.com/hornady-gun-cheek-piece.html it has storage for ammunition also it is nice that rifle is ready to walk out the door with , mag and spare ammo stored in the cheek pad with storage on stock any time I need it

Works great, especially for kids. Be sure to save the cut off piece so you can put it back on when they get bigger.

I bought my wife a 308 savage built for women the stock is more like a youth model. She loves it and it shoots great. She’s goat a couple bucks and a bear with it. She says its the only rifle she ever shot that fits her.

It's one of those Savage Muddy Girl's. It pretty small. She's 5'2" and short necked. I've watched her and she puts it up comfortably then has to start easing her head towards the scope until it's awkward. I want to get the right combo and dedicate it for her to hunt with. Most shots 50-100 yards I'd say.

I stick with the scope I mentioned. I'm certain it will be great for your needs.

ADC and I are both talking about the same optic Vortex Crossfire II 2-7x32 it has 3.9" of eye relief and at 2x where most of our hunting is done it is very forgiving for eye relief. I went further with a mounting option that lets you go to either extreme near or far and anywhere in between for mounting.

with the weaver quad lock high 1 inch rings extention , you will clear the EGW base with the optical bell of the scope.

I have mounted 8 of these now and found them all to work well

Before I can offer anything of any value, I need to know how much actual shooting she has done? Does she enjoy shooting or is she just doing it to spend more time with you.
If she has not shot enough to be completely comfortable with shooting (especially a centerfire), I would suggest to have her shoot a 22 with iron sights until it becomes completely comfortable with that. Watch her shoot the 22 to see if she has any bad habits like poor cheek plant.
She either is not completely confident/comfortable with shooting a rifle, or the gun which she is shooting doesn't fit her, or both. You need to sort that out.
A specific scope will not make up for these other shortcomings.
