I could be way off as I am not an outboard guy but did you check the jets? I had an older motor that would run great at idle or a troll but try and go anywhere and it would bog down. Turned out that jets had debris in it.

You might want to try running it on a remote tank before you start tearing carbs down...

Ok fellas, I tore down the carbs and cleaned em thoroughly and all looked good. Put on all new fuel lines and new fuel pump and filter and still the same problem.I was really hoping that would fix it.

Have you check the individual ignition coils? They might work fine at lower speeds, but when under a load they may be failing. You earlier stated that you had two wet plugs and one dry plug after it was running poorly. That would lead me to believe it is not a lack of fuel problem, but an ignition problem specific to those two wet plugs.

Could be as simple as bad plug wires and or plug caps. Find what the resistance should be and check with a multimeter. I have found extremely high resistance in both the wires and the plug caps that resulted in problems.

I am currently keeping 12 outboards running, both two and four strokes. I am finding that most of my problems are electrical not fuel as long as I pay attention to fuel quality (non ethanol), water in fuel, and proper off season storage.

Whatever you do, don't start making carburetor "adjustments". Fortunately that is not an really an option on most newer outboards.

Stator is probably bad.
