coonlove trapper Joined: May 2011 Posts: 849 Michigan	All military rifles for the new German nation were in 7.9x57. this is the cartridge we know as the 8 m/m Mauser. It goes back to the commission rifle of 1888 and was NOT a Mauser invention. All other smokeless Mauser models were in 7.65x53 for Turkey, Belgium, and Argentina. the 7x57 rifles were made for Spain and a host of South American countries. again, ALL military rifles and carbines adopted by Germany were in 8 m/m until the end of WW2.
