Minneapolis Tribune stated that more research will need to be done and even if they get delisted, it wouldn't be til next year (2021) that one would be able to hunt/trap them. Even so, there is a lot more hurtles to jump before anything happens.....but I'm hopeful!

The anticipation is the Fish and Wildlife Service will make an announce sometime this month. We'll see.
The DNR is looking to make changes to the management plan that was in place when we had a season. I don't have a good feeling about it. Here is the committee list that will try to make a plan to present to the public for comment.
Collette Adkins Center for Biological Diversity
Ellen Candler Minnesota Chapter of Backcountry Hunters and Anglers
Christine Coughlin Humane Society of the United States
Jason Dinsmore National Wildlife Federation/MN Conservation Federation
Jess Edberg at-large member
Scott Engle at-large member
Craig Engwall Minnesota Deer Hunters Association
Nancy Gibson International Wolf Center
Miles Kuschel Minnesota Farm Bureau
Gary Leistico Minnesota Trappers Association
Travis Luedke At-large member
Allen Lysdahl Hubbard County Natural Resource Management Department
Angela McLaughlin At-large member
Shirley Nordrum At-large member
Susan Peet At-large member
Gary Peterson Carlton County commissioner, representing Association of Minnesota Counties
Peter Ripka Minnesota Farmers Union
William Severud Minnesota Chapter of The Wildlife Society
Jacob Thompson Minnesota State Cattleman’s Association

I'm calling BS on this one. The only additional "reasearch" or hurdles being set up are being done by MN DNR under the direction of Gov Walz. Minnesota already had a Wolf plan in place from the last time they were delisted. This new one is being set up to cater to animal rights activists and Tribes. Anyone want to wager on the outcome? Agreed. Research??? We had a season and the allowable wolves to kill was a pitiful few in relation to state numbers and did nothing to curb the apex incursion and expansion. What was it 200 and some total? The shooters couldn't get it done and when the trappers were turned loose the number was quickly reached. I am convinced that every year since those seasons were canceled deer hunters have shot and let run to waste at least that many wolves and i also believe from speaking to government trappers they eradicate close to the old hunt allowance each year as well. So with twice the amount of wolves removed each year than the old yearly hunting allowance the wolves are still expanding range and numerically growing. What's to research?? As far as Indians ( of which many know here, I am a breed ) it's none of their business. What they want to do on tribal lands is their concern, what everyone else wants to do off of them is not their concern. Soon enough we will have the ridiculous problems Canada is having with its First Nations let's try to keep common sense here as long as possible. Osky

The wolf could be delisted but not allowed to trap or hunt. More studies. Study what?

There is money in Endangered Species. People make there living doing studies. It could take year to get them delisted even after the recovery goals have been met. I sure hope I am wrong! JMO

All study is imo is a reason to put off a season ,,, In montana it came down to the hunters said we are not buying licenses if we do not do something about these wolves (ie) put a season on them.

I'd lke to take a number of those committee members who are obviously ANTI trappers and get them out of the cities and show them the sign of how many wolf we have up here and the damage they do. We definitely have some great people on that committee that will help us but it is best if I leave their names out of this as we are monitored. As for the Governor we have it will be an uphill battle with that moron. If the wolf population moved to St Cloud we might have a chance with him.

I do appreciate the people that have stepped up to serve on this committee hoping for some rational discussion and reasonable results. To say I'm not optimistic would be an understatement. I suppose that makes me "hardheaded".
