Gonna be a good investment or is this gonna be a longer term deal?

Depends on ones definition of long term. There’s no way it won’t climb drastically higher than it is, at some point.

Some weaker oil companies may go under, otherwise good investment assuming you can wait it out.

I disagree ! I was an oil trader for years. Today, with the world awash in cheap oil and the political and social climate very much opposed to oil/gas/coal I do not see any catalyst to move oil prices or oil company stocks higher over the longer term. Certainly we are going to continue to use oil products but since the advent of fracking, companies can respond to short term price movements in a very short period of time.

It's tough to face it but I would look elsewhere for a reasonable return on my money

EDIT: A major war would change that outlook but not for very long
