I got this 23 Lb male otter the other day in a 280 Bridger at the bottom of a slide on an otter toilet that also served as a cross over. Funny thing...as I was retrieving the otter, every so often I'd hear a loud ker-plash in the big creek...I think it was probably another otter splashing around

I drug it up on shore for the picture. The h20 was deep with the snow melt. I really had to fish around with my hook pole to find it. I brushed the pole against what was an empty H stand, so I figured I had a catch. I used the hook on the pole to 'reel in' the otter. Talk about exciting.

3rd year in a row filling otter tag. I think otter trapping is my favorite.

Congrats on the otter. That's one animal still on my bucket list.

I Caught my biggest beaver to date last season, and it was more or less a fluke. He pulled out of my trap, but he somehow got the cable wrapped around his foot. I pulled up the cable and found him like this. Probably one of the craziest catches I’ve made.

Not what y’all might be expecting, but an MB550 offset one toe catch.

With my 2 weeks off we had a little time to make a few sets. My boys were beyond excited, and not gonna lie, I was pretty happy I remembered what to do! Like riding a bike!

Here are a few pictures from my boys and I. We had traps down for 3 weeks and never had more than 12 traps set at once. 18 beavers, 4 otters and 8 rats, all directly across the road from our driveway. They are hooked and it was pretty satisfying experience for Dad, it's been 15yrs since I set a trap, pretty happy to see I can still do it!

Thanks Boco, they loved it! We didn't get into skinning. I was caught off guard with the whole virus thing, all my skinning stuff was buried in the back of my garage. There is a local guy buying on the carcass. We will be ready for the fall, I want them to be able put up their own fur. I believe it is a huge sense of pride and accomplishment to do it from start to finish. It is very difficult to do the whole thing working a very full time job, but I want them to learn it and do it themselves.

Daughter and granddaughter stopped over today,pulled today,been at it since March 12th,103 rats,12 beaver,2 otter gotta finish the beaver then back to work, I need to rest up.

My first season, still going after a few spring beaver. Been wanting to trap since I was a kid. Having a blast, learned a ton, still have so much to learn.

Last year at NAFA's 2nd sale averaged just shy of $70.
