Last weekend there was 125 trucks parked on my beaver houses, so I guess I'll have to wait till after 31 March to chop holes.
The draw is for large walleye, 28 inch and upwards.
We were not disappointed with our catch and release of those 12-14 pounders.
We found a tree was under us the second day when we hauled up a 2 inch branch that broke off. The fall flood did wash away a lot of the river banks and push that stuff into the lake.
That was our structure on a flat bottom lake.

There are quite a few youtubers that have clips.
Ice was needing a 18" extension and still going down every night still.

Beautiful fish that you have there. Love the color.

I'm just happy to be here! Today I'm as young as I'll ever be and and older than I've ever been before!

No50, If'n you float back down to Wisconsin this fall I will buy you a fillet of fish sandwhich from McDonalds.
What with the plague we have going on I need to practice that Canadian mosquito handshake you taught me
some years back.

Nice fish. Zim

Guilty as charged Boco;
Zim; may be down in the summer doing some sturgeon fishing and tagging with my other hunting partner. Something about 30 inches Walleye and 65 inchers monster and a little more fight. Last year they caught a tagged one that had travelled in two river systems and 300 miles.

Big Windy does produce some Emerald Green Walleye, fish from the deep basin of the Red River, Fargo ND area do not get this colour as well as fish upstream of the Assiniboine River

Ya I was not taking the pic of it.
The catch and release criteria was for a quick horizontal pic and a total length measurement pic and release, so fish did not dorsal spine raise.
Last weekend there was lots of cigar size sauger and walleye hitting so a good new population is in the mix.

The mouth of the Red River is been rename ; The TRi State Hot Spot, Wisc/ Minn/ND....they were blocking some Nebraska rift raft from coming in.

Check out Master Anglers MB Gov.ca for some of the others entered.

Just go to the gov web page you will see plenty of the 30" = 14 pounders
The other guys did not share their pics.
What is important to fishermen is to enter these records, and a little more pressure will go to reducing the commercial harvest.
Fish Futures has done some extensive tagging/ sensors of 5 species of fish of the lower Lake Winnipeg basin, I sat in a seminar last fall when some of the results were shared. If this ever come to your region dot miss it.
Catch and release of catfish on the Red River has created a World Class fishery for them.

tiguy actuall weighing the fish puts a added stress on them that I do not agree with.
