I heard there was a guy who was a legend on catching some a few years back. He was on TV quite a bit with his catches. Guarded it fiercely too. A Mr. Whipple guy I think was his name. He has passed on now , wish he had him now , he knew a lot.

No one has mentioned the stake. This is why I mentioned this post, for the beginner trapper. Notice how high it is. The Charmin critter all but pumped that stake out, they are tough. If I didn't show up when I did it would have been a different story. Shoulda double staked it. If you catch a JUMBO size like we have here in southern Ohio you would have lost it... Ah Ha, I was waiting for this post from a experienced trapper. I did this on purpose, come what may. If I hadn't got there when I did all would've been lost. That stake is a 24" 3/8ths stake. Always I double stake but did this one for educational learning. Never underestimate the Charmin critter. A big shout out to Hawker and Madco, they are my inspiration and I provided for my family.
I wonder if tap dancers walk into a room, look at the floor, and think, I'd tap that. I wonder about things.....

He has passed on now , wish he had him now , he knew a lot. Yes, he was a legend indeed. He had his own method of dispatch which consisted of squeezing the air out of them. He was politely advised not to do so but it seemed like he was obsessed to continue.

If I didn't show up when I did it would have been a different story. I was trying to be polite by not criticizing your staking system but now that it has been brought to light I will make a few observations. First, there was no telling just how much of your stake remained in the ground since your stake could have been 42 inches or more like some that I use and ground could have been frozen . Also, you used a snare support and the wire would not be my choice for holding such a feisty critter even though it appears to be #9. I do not see enough swivels either since that critter you have there has been known to roll around and clog swivels with grass and debris. You were lucky to have held that beast since it appears to be a big one and double ply at that.

That is what I want to show to the youngins, trapping Charmin is no joke!

Ok if you really want to draw in the Charmin you have to use the Blue bucket set, make sure the handle is down and add about 5inches of water, The Delco 15/40 buckets work best for me. No, for the love. They respond best to half moon decoy sets, good grief.
