Everyone,
Here is the sale averages. I apologize on it taking so long. 4 days at the sale and to come home and help with helping with school closures and I just had to set my phone down. My voicemail was filling faster than I could clear it during the sale and the two days after. I have gotten a lot of people mad about fur prices. I do everything I can to help fur prices but I can only do so much. We had 14 different buyers that bought fur. It was not easy to get that many buyers to come and buy fur in this sort of economic state of the world. We worked hard to pull that much fur in so buyers would travel so far to bid on fur. Good collections of coyotes pushed $100 and good collections of cats pushed $350. One hound hunter averaged $440 but he only kept large males and turned everything else loose. Two cats were no-saled over a grand. Yes those cats would have been $1600 cats last year. My personal average on coyotes was $76 but I put everything in one lot this time, I had 8 severely broken $20 coyotes. My cats averaged close to $300 but they were a pretty bad collection. A collection of nice Mackay coyotes averaged just short of a $100 and a batch out of Cokeville Wyoming averaged over a $100. I could’ve juiced the averages by removing 275 Arizona and Texas coyotes that averaged under $20. Also had 129 cats from Kansas, Arizona and Texas that averaged under $50 that are figured into averages. Every coyote with a tail on it was skinned and had a bunch of coyotes that stunk go for $5 a nose that did not help averages.
We did have one trapper that did not get his minimums entered correctly. Was totally a mistake by us. As always we will MAKE IT RIGHT. If it is a mistake by us we will go retrieve the cats or pay the difference (difference between what cat sold for and minimum entered). We take mistakes very seriously and will make it right. Any concerns and please don't hesitate to call me. The ITA will not screw anyone over and will make sure that you are taken care of after the sale. I will make a promise to you that we will go back to the old school way of reading individual bids again next year.

Final averages from March sale:
Badger 13 offered ave $6
Beaver 101 offered ave $9
Bobcat 818 offered 725 sold ave $120 high $727 (two cats were no-saled that were offered over $1,000 a piece)
Coyote 1761 offered 1666 sold ave $58 high $152
Grey fox 113 offered all sold ave $12
Marten 62 offered all sold ave $25.07
Mink 51 offered all sold ave $3
Muskrat 2,496 offered all sold ave $3.73
Otter 65 offered all sold ave $28
Raccoon 98 offered 77 sold $403.97 ave $5

Thank you Rusty and the rest of the fur sale staff for putting in the long hard hours it takes to put together auction.
As for anyone who wants to cuss or complain well step up and become part of the solution instead of part of the problem .
Allan

Need to make sure we're all focusing on the right thing. There was actually very little complaining and aside from a few data entry mistakes (being fixed), the sale went really well. Lots of good volunteer help (big thanks!), some great demos each day and got another class of Trapper's Education completed on-site. The variety of fur and other sundry items was pretty amazing this sale too. A lot of pride in some of the put ups for sure (as well as some that should have been "repurposed" elsewhere eek ). Seems like a lot of the grumbling was around prices which had nothing to do with the sale itself. Other than some unrealistic (IMO) reserves put on all items, particularly some of the grease fur, things sold for what they were worth...which seemed to be an evolving number each day as the virus and shutdown news rolled in. Well over 200 people thru the door and lots of good BS sessions, virus be darned. I think there was enough borax dust in the air to neutralize it.

Sounds like a great Sale, considering the situation. Good job to you and your crew.

I just have to say that dispite a little mishap with my minimums on my cats at the sale, that Rusty and Mary were people of their word and made things right. I understand that things sometimes happen. It shows real character that Rusty and the Idaho Trappers Association solved the problem and made it correct for me. Dispite fur price fluctuation (which comes with trapping) I thought the Idaho sale was well put together and the people were great to talk to. My wife and I would love to visit the state again and come to the Sale again. Thanks to everyone that helped with the fur sale and special thanks to Rusty.

(725x120+1000+1000) divided by 727 = 122,42 average

2 no sale cats if sold for $1,000 each would have increased the average by $2.42
