Love to see stuff like that, a lot of people here with ingenuity. What are the dimensions, looks great!
I wonder if tap dancers walk into a room, look at the floor, and think, I'd tap that. I wonder about things.....

That was my initial plan but am looking at having a piece made that I can weld on and screw it to the end of a extendable paint stick. That way I can break it down to fit behind the seat of my truck or carry on my UTV.
Catch 22, I used 5/16" rod and put the tines at 1 3/4" on center. The center tine is about 6" long.

Did you heat treat the tips? I made one once for carp and after a few, everything was bent and dull.
If traps work like the Antis say......I would have no fingers.

Unfortunalty no. The material I used was standard cold rolled steel and that isn't easy to heat treat. I knew that going into this project and will just have to sharpen it from time to time.

The rake tines don't bend or break. True as they are high carbon and have been heat treated already and can be again, but as I stated, used what I had on hand.

20Scout I think your spear will work fine and I like your art work also. I like to make my own stuff from things laying around too.. Here is a spear I made back in mid 1970s. Had to do a project show my high school metal shop teacher could drill tap, braze.. Wanted a new carp spears so came up with this. 5/16 bolts threaded into bar stock, Brazed in some nails for barbs, welded little plate to make it attach to 3/4 conduit handle.. Don't recall my grade on it but had all required skills in it. I haven't used it in years as you can see mostly shoot bow now.. But this jewel easily whacked couple hundred carp in it's life time. Also got other items around yard welded up with things from farmer friends scrap pile..Pink bird is one my favorites needs new coat paint again had him for many years also. Mac

Getting ready for warmer weather, I made some Carpenter Bee Traps the other day... I made some of those but they didn't work for me.
