Good evening! Any SD guys still sinking some mrats? I've been wanting to get back out for a while but now looks like everything is clear for this weekend. Just wondering if the rats are tearing each up too much to be worth the effort? I'm willing to take some losses, I know that's going to happen this time of year. I've never open water trapped in the spring, the latest I've done before is around March 7-10 time frame still on the ice. Thanks!

Getting a few in my beaver sets I’ll take a rat and maybe some glands also. Some are getting bites but the #4 longs kind of keep them exposed when caught they work like a coni.

Finding lots of them! Enjoying this year as they don't come around to often. Few bite marks but not too bad yet.

just started up here by watertown. about 10 percent with 1 bite good big fat rats. got out 80 sets today hope to get 100 out tomorrow it water opens up a bit more

To all local trappers, I suggest strongly that you check for a buyer if you intend to sell locally, either round or skinned. The last South Dakota buyer that I knew was buying likely bought the last rats he will buy yesterday(Sunday) . Foxlaketrapper Iikely has his own market and there may be a buyer remaining willing to put some money into a dead item but I do not know of any.

Yes I do have a market and I am still buying rats and carcass beaver. Pm me if you need more info. Market is not very good on them but then most the markets suck right now.
