You want to stretch beacers in circles instead of ovals?
Why? Most of the buyers these days are docking round beaver.
But, here goes, it works round or oval: First lay off your pattern circles on your boards.

Grap the raw hide by the nose, and pop it (shake it out) several times, as in cracking a whip.

Now hang the pelt by it's nose from a nail, and measure it from nose to the center of where the tail was disconnected.

Take half of that measurment and add to the total length. This is your sub-total.

Take 10% of your sub-total and add it back to the sub total. This is a close approximation of the size a beaver will stretch.

Example:

36" beaver, nose to tail.
Half of 36" = 18".
Added to total length of beaver = 54". This is the sub-total.
10% of this sub-total = 5.4"
Add sub-total to 10% of sub-total = 59.4" Rounded to 60".

If you are having to work really hard to make the 60" back off to the next smallest size.

A smaller measured pelt, that is not over stretched, will usually bring more than an over stretched one.

Adios,
