Yeah it was a good time ended up with about 12 doz. Would have gotten a bucket full if the lighting hadn't started. He will start selling in about a week if we are getting good numbers like this. Figure we'll have to wear gloves and masks to package them and bleach the cooler every day just to be safe but it's his summer money and people still need bait. I am guessing sales will be down but we'll see.

All over last night the driveway was covered with crawlers then in the morning it was mostly wax worm size ones.
Was born in a Big City Will die in the Country OK with that!

Yeah the red lights are very bright and they don't react at all to them. Makes catching them much easier as they dont dive for the ground as soon as you see them.

Here is a video The Boy and I made tonight showing the reaction to the red light. Anyone who hasn't used a red light will probably switch after seeing the crawlers response. Averaged just over one worm every 5 seconds for an hour of picking. https://youtu.be/3MBVp4n59xQ

How much does the boy sell them for? Back when I was a kid I sold them for $1.00 a 100. That was the going price back then, it was like picking up pennies, and BB's were only a nickle a pack. LOL

He sells them for $2 a dozen. Gas station on either end of the street sells them for $4 so he does pretty well when things get going.

Just regular head lamps. I've used Coast and Bushnell but the ones I like best are from Amazon and have a motion sensor on them they are rechargeable and have 6 red LEDs so they are quite bright but all 3 have done well for us. Picture doesn't show it well but the bushnell is about half as bright. Still works good enough for getting fishing bait but for picking enough to keep a kid selling worms stocked brighter is better.

I'm amazed you are catching night crawlers already. We still have snow on the ground and in most places, the frost isn't even out of the ground yet here.
The difference between animals and humans is that animals would never let the dumbest ones lead the pack.

330 I asked my brother if he has a link to the ones I like best as he had sent them for Christmas.
B Tomlin that's how I used to do it to but the road I used to pick them on is empty of crawlers no idea why.
