There was a local guy having a farm auction and with this virus going on the property management company decided on an online auction. They had it open to bid online for a week and then it's over on Sunday. I got set up with the online bidding site called Proxibid and bid on some things. Then a couple days later when I went to check out the auction they added a second online bidding company called Hibid. The bids don't match and I called the property management company and she said, well, whatever one of the 2 has the highest bid wins! She said they did it to get the prices up. This is the dumbest thing I have ever seen.
Two auctions for the same stuff and you wouldn't know if you are winning or even close. To me this is like there are two different auctions in two different towns going on for the same stuff. To me that is like fraud or something.

What do you guys think, ever heard of this before?

I wonder what the seller would think if you were the high bidder and the auction was over and you said sorry I bought one cheaper some where since the auction is over.

You have to set up a credit card with the online auction company before you can bid. Looks rigged to me.

I used to bid with some of these online auctions when my wife found a kitchen set she really wanted. The auction was supposed to end on a certain date like ebay does. When that date came and gone, the bidding continued. I called the auction company and was told the end date was just a suggestion and didn't mean anything. As long as people continued to bid, the auction continued. That particular kitchen set went 3 days beyond the end date. I don't do online auctions anymore.

Almost sounds illegal. So it’s the same as if you had something up for auction and kept counter bidding to drive the price up. At best it’s unethical. I would report the whole bunch to the public service commission in your state. I’m sure it’s not illegal but it should be.
