So happy to say my little bro got his first full size rifle today. That being said the old man always thought it best our first legit rifle where ak/sks variant. So bro got dad's old MK90. He's a little upset with me toch because I took the 30rd mags and said he could only have a 10rd until he got good with it grin Gotta wait a little till 7.62x39 gets plentiful again for us to day any range time though.

I had one of them , hogged that thumb hole stock out with a wood rasp and sand paper till it actually fit my hand big improvement with a little time and some sand paper then refinished it.

make sure to clean that bolt out , if you have old grease in it on a cold day it goes bang more than you might want it too.

Nice action!!

Even an ugly SKS it is beter to have one than not. I watched my nephew shoot his first 2 deer with an SKS jumping white-tail does out of CRP fields out West River. I remember the poo-poo'ing my 7.62 x 51 NATO got as "whimpy" compared to people's long case ',06 or .270 so looking at a 7.62 x 39 sort of made me roll my eyes. But guess what, that 123 gr soft noise at 100 yards or less put the whack on doe white-tail just like an old .30-30. Dead is dead. Hanging venison is still hanging venison...

Yeah, a 3 round burst on an invited deer hunt doesn’t “sound” good. Yes the deer died. First shot in the crease of the shoulder. The next two climbed a little, lol.

I've killed two elk with an SKS, both one shot kills, one dropped where it stood, the other went about 40 yards, the elk didn't know what kind of rifle it was; dead is dead.
I'm not recommending it as an elk round though.

Good mid range calibre for black bear also.A lot less pelt damage than a 30-06,but no long shots. [Linked Image]

Yep with all the deer taken with 30-30's over the years I never under stood why people crapped on the 7.62x39 it's a fine cartraige under 100yd imo.
Dad always wanted us to have these type rifle because basically we couldn't break the dang thing lol. And honestly if you learn how to shoot them and actually sight them in their pretty dang accurate within 100yd

Robert, did you mention on the Canadian site you were thinking of parting with that piece?

Nice looking rifle.
Just picked up a CZ 7.62×39 for the oldest daughter for her upcoming bear hunt.

Just think about how it would be to live in a free country with God given right to bare arms that could not be infringed upon. Would be no worries about people being around when you have a malfunction. And if you wanted a guns with a happy switch that would be affordable. If only we lived in a free country
