Picked up a nice male civet today relocated him in a slough on private ground he let me cover him with a sheet and drive him around until I go to the release spot without spraying. Did not realize how big he was for a civet looked like he was real healthy. The place was not the usual skunk/civet cover just a few sheds with shelter trees around and very well kept, most good civet spots are junk=skunks locations. Not the best pic but I did not want to get blasted.

Law Dog,how did you know it was a male?Size? One of the bigger ones I have come across over the years just about as big as a squirrel I was surprised when he left the cage how big he was. The females often run smaller just glad to see them since we are doing studies on them now if they would just relocate some back to their former range.

Law Dog- Do you find if you get the cage covered up with a thicker blanket that they pretty much mellow out...?

The one on the calm day never sprayed but today the sheet was flapping like crazy uncontrollable almost I had to step on one part to get the first cage covered even then go back for the 2nd cage it was a mess but could of been worse. So yes the sheet takes away your outline on a calm day they can’t locate a target to spray.

I bet that was fun with our wind today! No it was not. LOL Very weird the place does not look like civet habitat but I’m guessing they were flooded out of near by sloughs that are ideal places for them. His place is clean no real weeds or junk around but he has 2 sheds on skids they look to be living under, must be a good food source near by.
