"Social distancing" , the 6 foot rule, was junk science at best from the beginning. And that's indoors. Outside on a golf course or in a fishing boat 6 feet means absolutely nothing. Anybody who has ever been outside should understand that, but somehow we have locked in on some experts recommendation as gospel.

My local boat launch ramp is now blocked with 2 ton concrete blocks to prevent access.

Funny how going out on the lake to go fishing is a danger. When fishing with a friend , I always want to be at least 6 feet or more away so I don't get foul hooked while casting. The water is still too cold for swimming or other activities on the water so the only thing being stopped right now with the concrete blocks is fishing.

You really have to wonder how much of this is truly intended to prevent Covid transmission, and how much is just intended to maximize disruption as much as possible.

Mostly the former though there are a few people out there that are loving what's happening.

Our course had nearly the exact same set or rules which kept us open for two weeks during the early part of the shut down. We were one of 2-3 courses in the entire So California are open and folks were driving two hours to play.
Like 200 plus golfers a day. It only took about a week and half of this out of town play before our course got closed completely. We had to limit play because we couldn't keep carts charged for the single riders.

One difference was our maintenance guys just turned the cups upside down. Cup is much more shallow and easy to get the ball out. Way better than a cup sticking up above the grass.

The park service closed Lake Powell the other day. Reason was because their workers shouldn't have to be around the public. That's what happens when gvnt controls everything.
