A buddy of mine swears that at one time he was able to purchase "Extra-Large" or "Over-size" beaver hoops to properly stretch anything 48# +/- up beaver pelts. Naturally he can't remember "where" he bought them and I've been trying, but coming up empty.....HELP!! (I have several beaves over 50# and trying to get these monsters on a hoop is ridiculous and I don't want to board if I can possibly help it....so please no advice on "boards are better"...

Does anyone know where extra-large hoops can be found/bought??
Feel free to e-mail if you do and/or respond herein

Thanks for any help/direction you can give me.

Tim

This might not be enough to solve your problem, but I had one big female this winter that as too big for my hoops. I ended up using small zip ties to mount the pelt on the hoop, snugging right up to the hoop adding a couple I inches all around.

Never had issues with putting bigger beaver on hoops? Someone may of built some customs. Have more issues doing small beaver than big ones. I keep boards on hand for when I need something for 60+ or kits

I built some bigger ones years ago when I still hooped beavs, but went back to boards and pedeled most of my hoops. I get a chance, I'll look around and see if I have any left. I remember making the bigger ones out of 3/8 cold roll verses the regular ones out of 5/16.

Just put up one that was 69 inches total on the hoops I bought years ago and had room for a bigger one, mine have the nuts at the ends with no bent end to use as a handle to adjust the hoop. They are over 40 years old so no telling who made them.

Also keep in mind smaller hog rings would add to the hoops pelt capacity, I use the 2 inch rings for most of the hoop work then he pig size about a inch to snug up the head area if I’m working on a wall hanger one.

There's a fellow out of Alabama that makes his own hoops out of scraps of guy wire. He takes a piece of guy wire 10-12' and just run both ends through a ground clamp (like you attach a wire to a ground rod). If you can get access to that you can make them any size. Get to know a lineman.
