OK, I don't exactly know. But, I do know it is more likely and more effective to come up with one for 100,000 than it is for 6,000,000.

Tom to put another light on it, of the 160 deaths more than 120 were people in assisted living and elderly care homes.
That seems to show the diseases primary battleground and our lack of focus and effort on battling its spread there.

The death toll from the closing down of routine medical care and the effects of the financial ruin brought on by the shutdown will far exceed the death toll of the virus itself IMO. Unfortunately, we will never know the real numbers caused by the virus or the shutdown. There is NO Truth in the reporting since there is financial implications for anything virus related so people quit dying from pneumonia when the virus showed up. Terminal cancer patients are being reported as virus casualties also.

And nobody will ever try to put numbers together for folks who die from conditions that are going untreated during the shutdown.

Yes, there are some areas where the virus has hit hard but there have been millions of appointments cancelled as the medical industry overall has gone on lockdown for all but emergencies. I have personally had appointments pushed out several months by my provider. I was not given a choice. And I can not get procedures scheduled to improve my quality of life.

I am also unable to do things that I believe can be done safely with reasonable precautions because Big Brother decided I was not responsible enough to make my on decision and deal with the consequences thereof. Life is filled with risks. We take risks every day, virus or no virus.

We have had contagious viruses before, we will have them again. And in this case, I firmly believe that the measures taken to combat this have created a condition a lot worse than the virus itself.

BTW, I am in the high risk group. This is my opinion! Your mileage may vary!

Professor Yitzhak Ben Israel of Tel Aviv University, who also serves on the research and development advisory board for Teva Pharmaceuticals plotted the coronavirus infection of US, UK, Sweden, Italy, Switzerland, France, Germany, and Spain.

The numbers told a shocking story. Irrespective of whether the country quarantined like Israel, or went on business like normal like Sweden, the virus peaked and subsided in the exact same way. All countries experienced seemingly identical infection patterns with the number of infected peaking in the sixth week and rapidly subsiding in the eight week.

The Wuhan virus follow its own pattern he told Mako, an Israeli news agency. It is a fixed pattern not dependent on freedom or quarantine. There is a decline in the number of infections even in countries without closures, he wrote.

Professor Israel concluded in his analysis that data from the past 50 days indicates that the closure policies of the quarantined countries can be replaced by more moderate social distance policies. The numbers do not support quarantine or economic closure.

Read this slow. Then you will understand why I think its blown out of reality.

Senator Scott Jensen represents Minnesota. He’s also a doctor. He appeared on Fox News with Laura Ingram where he revealed a very disturbing piece of information.

Dr. Scott Jensen says the American Medical Association is now “encouraging” doctors to overcount coronavirus deaths across the country.

Jensen received a 7-page document that showed him how to fill out a death certificate as a “COVID-19 diagnosis” even when there isn’t a lab test confirming the diagnosis.

“Right now Medicare is determining that if you have a COVID-19 admission to the hospital you get $13,000. If that COVID-19 patient goes on a ventilator you get $39,000, three times as much. Nobody can tell me after 35 years in the world of medicine that sometimes those kinds of things impact on what we do.”

Yesterday during the Governors press briefing they announced a big effort with collaboration between the UofM, Mayo, and Essentia Health for a comprehensive testing program in Minnesota. One of the speakers (sorry I don't recall which one) stated very emphatically that we are in the early stages of this, and will be in it for the long haul, since only 5% of Minnesota has been exposed to this virus. Now I'm no expert but, isn't it odd that on the day they are announcing the start of a broad testing program this guy already knows the percent of Minnesota residents who have been exposed?

For any MN guys that are interested....

https://www.health.state.mn.us/diseases/coronavirus/situation.html

I don't know if many know this or not, but the MN Dept of Health updates this page everyday at 11:00 am. There are 2,942 positive cases and 200 deaths listed for 4/23. All the numbers are there, including current hospitalizations, deaths, ICU patients, no longer needing isolation, etc. Regardless of which side of the debate you're on, It's worth checking to those that are following things in MN.

Our State Dr. who I respect her very much... said yesterday... after the open there will be an increase 5 to 15% and then hopefully have a downward decline. BUT the thing is they just don't know. I have also read various places with slightly different numbers that it has already mutated slightly, 8 times. The good thing is it hasn't mutated to an extremely viral case yet. This of course could happen and then the "Fit will hit the Shan". and those that have already had it may not have developed strong enough protection and they will get it again, but this time it could be extremely deadly.

Let us all pray this doesn't happen.

I believe it can also mutate to a version that has less or no effect on humans as others viruses have.

I agree... it is not something that would should be obsessed by it, BUT we should be aware of it and not go recklessly about our business like it is the sniffles or a hang nail either. That is what happened in 1918, a lot of people shrugged it off because they lived several hundred miles away where it was happening and they paid for it dearly. What is the saying... "Don't mess with Mother Nature", or even take her for granted.

I wouldn't want to be unhealthy. The plan was to slow the spread so some of the unhealthy ( if exposed they still might die from being unhealthy) would not die because of of a lack of medical care. If the lack of medical care is not an issue, time to go back to work.

Pennsylvania has had to remove hundreds of coronavirus deaths from its official death count this week, following questions of accuracy and highlighted discrepancies by area coroners.

The PA health department decided to include “probable” coronavirus deaths, or an assumed COVID-19-related death without testing for the virus, to their death tolls, dating back days and even weeks ago. But the death toll spike raised questions from coroners who came forward to highlight a discrepancy in death totals, which were not adding up to the number of all-cause deaths.

The scrutiny triggered multiple revisions and statements from the department, including the removal of 200 “probable” COVID-19 deaths and a claim of computer “glitching.”

“Pennsylvania started to include ‘probable deaths’ in its fatalities. As a result, the total number of coronavirus deaths grew by 276, then 360, in successive nights, almost doubling the number of deaths in the state in two days,” a Fox News report explained. ” The Pennsylvania Department of Health (DOH) subsequently removed 200 deaths from its count after facing mounting questions about the accuracy of the count.”

Figures never lie; but, sometimes liars figure.

So, in comparing last year's flue numbers with this year's, I have to assume that the cure for the common flue is Corvid19.

Here is something I posted on the "gov. of GA" thread, but, is as appropriate here:

Gov Walz of Minnesota gave a press conference on Thursday. Buried in his 1 hour sales pitch to continue quarantine was a statement to the effect: "Sooner or later we are all going to get it."

If that is true, and I believe it is; let's go about our business. Three cheers for Georgia, and Sweden while we're at it.
