I've used the Victor #3 soft catch for almost 20 years, here's what i know. In the beginning i bought the 2 spring models and they held everything for the most part for the first year or two and then the frames started bending and they woundn't hold wolverine at all and even the odd lynx would pull out.
For all the 2 spring models i installed this
https://canadiancoyotecompany.com/c...oducts/jc-conners-taos-lightning-springs
The springs are strong now and to correct the frame bending i weld on base plates with d rings.
I also install the Paws-I-Trip (PIT) Pan Tension Kits
https://www.fntpost.com/Products/Pan+Tension+Kits+Expanded+Pans/Paws-I-Trip+(PIT)+Pan+Tension+Kits
on all my #3's and change the dog to a steel rod
https://www.fntpost.com/Products/Universal+Coil+Spring+Trap+Parts/Paws-I-Trip+(PIT)+Stainless+Steel+Notched+Sloped+Rod+Replacement+Dogs
and add a wolf shock spring.
It's a bit of work but you have a good trap. I've starting to use the Bridger #3 double laminates with the PAWS-I-TRIP kits and i'm liking them but i have a couple of dozen of the Victor #3 with all the corrections that i am not afraid to set.

Bridgers must have cost me 5 lynx this season. trigger is way to long and they would not spring had to really file them down. better now but the pans sit kind of high. Lost a wolf in a Bridger #5 also, no idea how he pulled out must have been only a partial foot catch. looked like a monster big wolf.

Wolverines pull out of leg holds as they know 280 & 330 connibear are the preferred traps for wolverine. All winter I had a roll of wire that I meant to put up and make one of them wolverine fence pens for wolverine like that guy on Trapping Inc. Might try get it done next week finally if I get time to go to Cache Creek up in the Richardson Mountains. Snowmobile trouble all winter really slowed my experimentation process down. VK540 getting its second new warranty engine this winter, they figure they got it figured out this time though. Trying to get them to put a screen kit on the vents also so it don't steam me out every bit of powder I hit next winter.

Y254-I have the 2 spring model. Ive never had wolverine pull out of them before this year. Could be weakened or maybe just bad luck. I think warm weather helped him get out too. Normally the cold would help keep his foot in there. We've been getting lots of snow and drifting so its possible the traps were slow and didn't get a solid catch. Either way its like Morgan told me at the camp after she got tired of hearing me complaining about the loss. "Ahhhhhh you'll live without it"

Ryan there is no sufficient amount of whining and complaining after you loose a wolverine. Your friends and family never get tired of hearing about the tribulations of the loss either. Even several years later when it pops to mind for no reason, a good hour of dwelling on it is completely acceptable.

You can slap a wolf spring on to cable just as easy as chain, extra swivels also. Now only if you had done that last month that wolverine would be hanging in your skinning shack right now!! ect, ect, ect.............................

I seen a marten at a box when I was pulling traps. Managed to get my phone out in time and take a video of it hitting the trigger.

You can still make it. Get a job as a zambonni driver you might beat the Leafs next year.

Wolverines dont pull out of Sleepy Creek 4-1/2s!! To bad about your Vk540. Ive got the Arctic Cat version, and so doesn't my son. This was the 2nd winter with mine. Not much trouble other than fouled plugs in the beginning. My son used his all year with no troubles. I did get water in the transmission and had to drain it but that was my fault. Can you get screens for the vents? Do they know why your engines keep going?? I think I will trade mine off...I like everything about it except the handling. Never rode machine thats so hard to steer or as rough riding. They are discontinued now anyway as they wont pass the new emissions Trudeau gave us. Guess I will go back to a 4 stroke...

YOU GO Morgan !!!!! Very nice young lady I hope you take a end of the year picture or two with the products of your snare line !

Ryan that's a bad deal on the wolverine pulling out of your traps I'm sure you will figure it out before you know it.

This might’ve been 2013s grizzly? Climbed a mountain on foot to get above the den then waited him out. Lighting A cigarette got his attention.

Grizzly bear got 6-7 beavers between two houses on my little bear adventure close to town.
[Linked Image]
Took a quick run east afterwards and tracked a big wolverine. Caught up to it in the trees and let it go. Only had my 270 an it’s too late in the spring anyway.

Right where he was running when I had a chance to shoot. Big ole faded yellow wolverine. Should’ve been January.

Sitidgi lake. Wolverine was running down the left edge of the lake when I took the picture. One of the Lake trout fishing spots.

They are starting to pop out over here now to Ryan. Really like your son's parka. Good luck and be safe out there.
