The Super Duper has been around a long time, since I was a kid. I'd call it more of a variation on a spoon, than a spinner.
Personally, I've never had any luck with them, but it's not a lure I used a lot either.

I used them and have caught grayling in Alaska and trout in Montana and when fishing for trout I've always got one close by. I like the copper with a red tip never tie your line directly to the lure ha ha

Why did you let the cat out of the bag ? We have had the “Dupe” in our arsenal for decades. At more than one trout pond we fish...when Iam too drunk to be in my boat...I stand on shore ..between two other fisherman ,that are not catching anything....and reel in Brookies like nobody’s business ,,,,right in front of their nose !

Do you like the silver or ~bronze Duper the best? I run them both...depends on sunny or cloudy days....they both have the red tip . But I always troll the flys first....then when those are not working...the hardware comes out...Duper’s...Mooselook wobblers...needle fish....rooster tails...DB Smelts...

Trout always hit them on the way down rather than on the retrieve. This I have not noticed. Maybe I'm starting to reel too fast...but I'm fishing ~shallow ponds.

Scout1,
My brother wore out two of those Johnson Century reels. Couldn't find another. Dad and I still have several and several more parts ones. One of the best reels made. I carry one in my fly vest for spinner fishing. I learned to work on them at a young age. Sorry for the thread hijack!

Hard to beat a good panther martin! Will have to say I've never seen a spin cast reel fished on a fly rod as shown in the pic. Probably shouldn't ask how you use it like it is. I have a small spinning reel on a fly rod as my favorite yellow perch rod. When the big ones are just "mouthing" the bait,I can feel them when other folks with regular rods cant. They will comment,"you can feel them looking at your bait with that thing cant ya"And also,,yes to the panther martin for brookies.Wish I had a dollar for every brookie I gat on a panther martin.
