Sounds like it's in the works heard on TV this morning. I stopped shopping at Penneys when they dropped sporting goods and made it a clothing store years ago. No surprise they filed bankruptcy.

I remember when Amazon first started as an online bookstore. A buddy was convinced they would put brick and mortar bookstores out of business.
Eh...wot?

I’m not impressed. “He” is making local business irrelevant gobbling up the local economies of small towns, owning media sources to advance his ambitions and doing it all with tacit government approval. Amazon Schmazon
No he's not. The consumers that use Amazon are.

No he's not. The consumers that use Amazon are. And that's because he's been allowed to run an unregulated monopoly. Bezos is your one stop shop for news, media content, groceries, electronics, soon to be cars, houses, etc. It's an unregulated monopoly.

A lot of independent vendors sell through Amazon. Of course Amazon gets their cut, but a lot of those vendors would be hobbyists or non-existent without having access to the Amazon marketplace. It's similar to Wal Mart agreeing to allow you to sell your items in their local store vs you just selling from your garage... I might make 3$ profit per unit from my garage but only sell 100 units a month... And while I may only make $1 per unit profit from selling in Wal Mart, I'm happy cause I'm selling 5000 units a month there and still selling from my garage to boot. Mike

The one area that's really been impacted by Amazon is the rise in postage prices. USPS rates are wa-a-a-ay up and when you make a way to get FREE SHIPPING for the consumer, (Prime), people will start buying everything from Amazon. Our "yuppie" neighbors order EVERYTHING from Amazon..... Toiletries, laundry detergent, everything! Only $99.00 a year gives you free shipping.
The post office now has a separate mail truck on our route, that just delivers Amazon packages. Our regular mail carrier used to deliver first class and packages but our mail would get delivered around 6:30-7:00 PM from November through January.
There are small companies that do not even have a website, but sell their products through Amazon...... The NEW AMERICA! WalMart and the big box stores started the decline of the small businesses in towns, and now Amazon is taking it to WM.

We are saying that Amazon needs Penny’s distribution centers, but not their brands? Penny stores around here were in malls., I think congested mall would interfere with Amazon. Malls often have central ownership and lease to retailers like Penny.
I guess will see soon enough.
