Good luck with your quest.

Wholesale numbers when it comes to cars are bs. That's means nothing.

Maybe BS to you. I bought and sold cars and trucks and even the occasional cargo box truck new and used at the 27th largest ford store in the nation. Have you ever seen or even heard of a ACV? No? It stands for ACTUAL CASH VALUE. It is an INVENTORY CONTROL DEVICE it is linked to the VIN# and every dealership has one for every vehicle on their property. It is used to calculate their TAXES. And show profit or loss. And yes dealerships occasionally sell a vehicle at a loss. Sometimes to freshen their inventory sometimes to get liquidity to cover that months FLOOR PLAN. Donít know what that is either? Thatís the monthly payment they have to make to the lending institutions that lend them the money to pay the manufacturers for the vehicles they receive.
Since dealerships never buy at anything but wholesale if you can pay less than the ACV you have just bought under=less than wholesale. As was posted before just because some havenít figured it out doesnít mean that no one has.

Go as far as you can see, and you will see farther

Dealerships will be hungry for cash. Used cars, especially, will go for cheap. A lot of people aren't making their car payments right now and even closed dealers have gas, electric, insurance, and property taxes to pay with no cash coming in. There will be cars sold at cost just to convert the inventory to cash and dealers will be getting a lot of repo cars back that they don't want on their lot.

A friend of mine bought a 2 year old truck from a dealer in 2008 when the economy tanked last time. He was sitting in the sales guys office and there was a white erase board on the wall with all of the repo's written on the board- all the customers who weren't paying. He said that there must have been 50 cars written on the list. Once he saw that, My friend offered 30% off asking price. The sales guy balked. My friend pointed out the list and told him that he could pay cash today. The sales guy talked to the manager and the manager agreed.

Yes, dealers are definitely shut down in Virginia. Some of them maybe open by now. Not sure.
