I know twin loop chain is cheap but I hate it. At $35.00 per 100 foot of twist link chain it's worth it to me. You have to try to tangle it up.

To each their own.

I hate the 2/0 stuff they come with. That gets snagged up on everything. This other stuff I don't have that problem with.

$35/100 of twist link is a super price for sure. Please post your thoughts about it and perhaps a pic. Sounds like a really good solution for you.

Got my #4 twist link chain today and I think it's going to be perfect for what I want. 2 things that don't matter much are 1 it doesn't come on a spool (shipping reasons) they did put a piece of red plastic so you could find a end and 2 it's electro galvanized (so it's shinny as heck) so it won't hold dye but a couple gallons of vinegar and a couple of days and it will be off. All in all very happy.

Will you post pics to other sizes of standard trapping chain so we have a comparison?
Thanks

Muriatic acid takes the plating right off in a jiffy. Just put the chain in a bucket and pour the MA over it . Takes 10 seconds, dump it out and rinse very well with water. Plating gone and starts to rust immediately . Don't breath the fumes.. Your welcome

Will J hooks fit the chain?

I used to untwist an end link and open it wider,on the twist link chains so that swivels or connectors would fit but in recent years, the welds are more apt to crack. You need to watch very closely as sometimes the crack is hard to see.If one cracks,I remove it and try another.Sometimes it works.

The best deal I ever got on twist link machine chain was on ebay, several years ago.I got 175' of Campbell 2/0 for $65,shipped.I was ecstatic.2/0 is pretty big stuff, over 600 # and I wanted it for wolf traps and drag chains. It came with a nice, gray, squarebucket too! That stuff often goes for $2 a foot.

I have looked since but have not found any deals close to that but I am pretty well stocked up.

1/8 j-hooks will 3/16 won't.

Instead of widening the chain I plan on flattening the j-hook out by hitting it with a mallet on a vice. Flattening the j-hook out a little shouldn't alter the strength and if it does it still won't matter on the traps an critters I'll be catching in them.

The inside width of the links are .17 so I only have to flatten a 3/16 j-hook down .0175 which is only slightly more that 1/64 of an inch.

Will post comparison picks later.

I like using vinegar just because if it spills or what not and I don't have to worry about my kids or animals .
