Who's got the plans for a collapsible coon box made of 1x1" wire? bought a roll of lobster trap wire and would like to make them collapsible to save on space on the back of the truck. Wooden coon boxes are heavy and take up way too much space.

You would be more successful just digging a dirt hole or setting DPs. I never found those cages to be real efficient.

Not around here Beav. Here you can regularly catch coon, mink, cats, fisher and once in a awhile muskrats. I should call them 220 boxes

Plus nobody wants to screw around with a bunch of live animals, and be limited in the amount of sets that entails.
That said, screen cubbies have been proven to be inefficient compared to boxes,as the largest bait will disappear overnight from small animals eating it thru the screen.

Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.

Exactly Boco, and with the few wire boxes I do have I’ve found tying the bait chunk from the top or to the back helps a lot with the mouse issue. I also run pans on my body grips, they take care of the bait stealing weasels and rats.

I used wire cubbies for years on the places I had to pack stuff into. Now I pack in a box - they just catch stuff more efficiently for me. When I have good luck with wire cubbies it always seems it is with ones I have spent a ton of time blocking in with logs and rocks. Don't have to fool with all that with a box. If you make the box bottomless and a little wedge shaped they can slide together and save a ton of space in the truck. I've caught several red fox in boxes but never one in a wire cubby.
